Anyway Gibby you should try making the same person from different angles (a 360 rotation in 30 degree increments or something). that is great for obtaining an understanding.

That's a great idea! :D I've already done a few angles, but I think I'll do a full-body sketch for multiple angles. I'll have understanding of a good few points that way :)

Nice fish btw :p

Another one! I did a lot of practise on faces and eyes and I've done all this purely by imagination :p This marks the start of me drawing boobies :D

Because they look faker than a whore's orgasm?

Because they're higher than Timothy Leary?

Because they have more silicon than the Intel factory?

:D

Seriously though ... keep practicing. You get better with work, and time. That's all it takes. :)

This may be blasphemy to some but I'd like to see an anime/manga style RO scene :)

Something along these lines? (skip to 2:26-2:34 for a good example)

YouTube - AMV - Hell's Gate // First Squad: The Moment of Truth

I used to hate anime, but it's grown on me quite a bit (mainly cause one of my friends is obsessed with it hehe).

BTW, you said those are your first pics... that's what I mean by I wish I could draw lol.... you obviously have some natural knack... Anything I try to do beyond stick figures looks absolutely retarded ;) (and believe me I've tried multiple times, even with an art book helping me out)

I don't get why people hate anime so much, if its good is good, if its stupid, just laugh with it, and if its utterly stupid, then just ignore it.
Its the same for movies and games.
Most mainstream anime falls into the last category, but isn't it so with movies(see Transformers) or games(see Crap of Duty) too?

Similar things happens to me, but mainly because I have 0 patience and because the damned pencil doesn't go where I want ><, I can't improve with practice, as it seems that somehow, the more I try, the worse it gets.

You see... This is a perfect example why I hate Anime.

This movie could be pretty awesome... but there is that typical Anime CRAP that ruins it for everybody not into small kids and huge Katanas.

Seriously, Why are all the main actors teens, WHY for gods sake do they have to include small 14 year old girls with HUGE Swords, WHY FOR F*CK SAKE do they have to include that superpower crap?!?

Why can't they just leave out that ****e and make a truly awesome War film?

This stuff just makes me rage so much it's beyond believe...

the movie was bad, but not because of the stuff you mentioned, but because of the RL commentary that was constantly breaking the pace...

and no, not all anime has those elements you mentioned even though this one does.

It's basically same with most western stuff. It doesn't matter if it's comic, some novel, major book, film or so: 10-15 year olds are the world's biggest target audience to gain profit and what's the most easiest way to gain their attension, snarf snarf? How many teen dramas, teen series, teen related books or such are done around here which are almost the same **** with just mildy diffrent stock characters?

Yes, it's true there's less swinging the swords size of a skyscraper but superpowers are quite usual.

If you really believe all anime falls into those traps, you haven't seen the good stuff. Ghost in the Shell has to be my favorite by far. Jin-Roh and the live action films it's based on are pretty awesome as well.

As for the art style, I really prefer the realistically proportioned character designs. Save the huge heads and dinner-plate eyes for comedy shows where the over exaggerated facial expressions are useful.

That being said, most anime is crap - but that applies to all forms of media from all around the world. You just have to find what you like. Saying "I don't like anime," is like lumping Mickey Mouse in with Heavy Metal from western animation.

lolface :D

I'm starting to get the hang of drawing noses and mouths, and maybe eyes, and I'm feeling a little more natural with face shape and hair :D

The ear was the hardest part. :(

Ear does look good.

Problem with this one, though. Stylistic issues aside - from a manga POV the features are good - the face is misaligned.

If you draw a straight line from the outer corner of one eye to the outer corner of the other one, you'll see that the eyes are more or less set right in comparison to each other. However, if you draw a line from the bridge of the nose to the chin, the components of the lower half of the face don't line up right. The individual parts are good, but the alignment just isn't there. The line from the bridge of the nose to the chin should be perpendicular to the line across the eyes.

There may be some variations due to perspective, but not quite this much.

If you rotate the parts on the blue line around the bridge of the nose so that the blue line matches up with the red line, then you'll have the alignment just about perfect.

Yeah, I was practising eyes at the time.

I was thinking: "I have a fresh page, why not do a whole face? "

Then I finished it, looked at the eyes, and I was like,
