I don't have a clue about moding, but I keep my fingers crossed for some large combined arms maps, where 500-800m sight adjustment will come in handy ;)

I find something that really angers me, this entire forum are whining about how the game isn't realistic enough, or the maps suck, and how TWI should fix it.
Well, perhaps instead of sitting and whining, then go and use the much flaunted MOD TOOLS that TWI released, and make your own Realism Mode. Make your own MAPs. Clearly, TWI aren't going to help. And you may ask, well, why don't you go and do it?
I would, but I don't have any experience with modding....
So get out there and make RO2 the game everyone wants!

The whole point of Ideas & suggestion is to give ideas and suggetions.

The only way to make the game improve is to tell the Devs in what direction we want it in. Sure - some people complain about things that I personally don't give a crap about, but I don't agree with you when you say that people shouldn't complain. You may also consider the fact that most people here are customers and not gamedevelopers so It's not neccesary our job to develop the game. It's actually extremely good that people complain (If it's done in a nice manner) because that will not only make the Devs work easier, but it will also help the whole game to develop in the direction that is RO and not, for instance, call of duty.

i think an awesome map would be one where there are large fields all around, and at the centre there is a small town. This would encourage close quarters fighting in the town, tank combat in the fields, and rifle combat in the fields and town. There could also be a forest on one side of the town for medium range fighting. In this map, all playstyles could work.

The thing is that many of RO vets don't want to split community into small groups. Such improvement should be released as official. It isn't small modification, but community request. TWI sold game already to casual crowd that doesn't care about historical accuracy and they will leave game when BC3 or MW3 will be release. When RO veterans, competitive players stay unsatisfied.

Pump your breaks, Kanye. I care about historical accuracy, and I'm pissed about the availability of historically inaccurate weapons. However, I think that the other gameplay changes that TWI has made (reduced sway, better player speed, etc.) are spot on, and really do a lot to increase both the realism and the playability of the game.

You have to realize how small the RO1 community is nowadays. It had been reduced to like 5 active servers in vanilla, 1-2 active servers in DH, and like 12 players once a week in MN. That's because shooting games have evolved in the 5 years since RO1 came out, and many of us welcomed a lot of the changes. They don't make the game casual, or any less hardcore. I can't stand CoD or it's kin, the twitchy little blighters, but I also get bored with the sluggish move speed and horrid weapon accuracy in RO1.

RO2 brings in the best of both worlds. It brings the difficulty and tactical nature of RO1 and updates it with the best of what modern shooters have to offer, and they've produced a fantastic balance between the two. The small, very vocal group of RO1 vets dissatisfied with the game (there are plenty that are perfectly happy with the new game, give or take one or two gameplay gripes and the bugs) are giving the illusion that everyone is unhappy with the current state, and they keep insisting that everyone but them in a few months. It's laughable.

The RO2 community is going to carry on strong far into the future, especially given TWI's past dedication to it's fans. Sure, they may lose some of the guys that loved RO1 exactly as it was, but new players will come in to replace them. TWI doesn't owe you guys anything. You played the game because you liked it, not because you were doing them a favor. They've changed the formula, and you don't like the new game. Well, that's understandable, but you hardly constitute the entire playerbase and there are plenty of dedicated fans very happy with the new game to keep it going for a long time coming. You'll just have to find another game to scratch that inaccessible, unrealistically difficult itch of yours.

Sorry, but where can I get Mod tools for the game anyways? I'd love to make a map or two...

The SDK is in a limited alpha/beta pre-release only at the moment. There is a thread in the map modding forum. I requested a key to start investigating RO2 map creation, but I didn't receive one and I only imagine they got far too many key requests.

Only a few people have access to the SDK, and the SDK is not currently in proper shape for designers to create/modify things.

What do you mean they arent going to help? When I give my money I want to get what I was promised and what I expected! Nothing less, nothing more!
Unfortunately, a lot of people regret they bought this game or at least at this stage of its "develpment" And this is the place to ask why SELL a game that is not READY?

Totally agree with u! Lots of whining and crying, personally i love the game and i will not quit playing, these guys are great and are trying very hard to make things better.Kids will always complain that the guns arent balanced or the maps suck or there moms HP wont run the game it never ends.
If they have there way they will kill this game like every other game that isnt like cod4 because they are children and do not know any better.

OP,

Most of us are gamers, NOT SOFTWARE PROFESSIONALS! We purchased a game we were being told was realistic but would have unrealistic (Mkb42/AVT) but HIGHLY LIMITED weapons included for a very small hero class. We didn't get what we were sold.

Don't tell us that by purchasing a game that we are now somehow obligated to become software modifiers because the game isn't what we were sold on. We bought a GAME, not a do-it-yourself mod kit!

Exactly one of my points. It's like if you buy a brand new HD TV, that turns out not to deliver HD quality, it's very unlikely that the employee will say ''Can you make a better TV yourself, huh? If not, stop hating on our TVs.''. Games are products, no more, no less.

However, I do consider RO2 as a masterpiece, but there is things that has to be fixed (and I believe Tripwire will fix it) and thats it
