It would feel stupid if you surround a tank with infantry and set him on fire with some kind of AT weapon and then somehow the tank blows up but there is no kill/ticket loss.

I'm still one of the bail out of the tank friends, but either do it fully or leave it.

The OP idea is good, but i perfectly agree with you. It has no sense to "half-escape" lol

do it fully or leave it. [cit.]

I never said there should be no kill points for the guy who set the tank on fire!
Of course you get points - either you get points for destroying the tank (and maybe extra points for the crew),
OR you get points for "killing" the crew even if they bailed out in time.

Think of it this way: enemy soldiers surrounding the tank could take the crew prisoner.
A prisoner is not dead - so no ticket loss. And he can still escape on the way to the POW camp to fight again!

The soldier is combat ineffective though so he might as well be dead for gameplay purposes. Does it really matter whether he is out of the fight for 3 months in a prison camp or in a military hospital? Either way he's not going to walk back into the battle in the next 30 minutes :p

How exactly would this feature differ from the Scuttle tank function? because they sound like the same thing with a different name to me..

I am an Infantristen through and through, so not being able to bail out of a tank doesn't effect me directly. However I think this idea of TW's not to allow crews to bail out is unbelievably stupid, from both a realistic and logical perspective.

Nothing seems more totally crazy to me than sitting in a burning vehicle, or waiting for the ammo to detonate under you. Also the new best tactic will be to knock out the enemies engine or tracks and just leave the tank there immobilized were it is useless. Waiting for me and my Pioniere to come and blow them up with a concentrated charges so they can re-spawn. :D

I did not know about a "scuttle tank" option - but I am glad it will be in!
The difference is that with the "scuttle" you proberly bail out immediatly and with my system
you have a realistic delay of time what every crewmember needs to get out of that tank!!!

(you cant exit a tank in 0.1 seconds)

So even if you like my idea or not - TW already got the point and included it, and my approach is even a bit more realistic...

And Bobdog really fell for my trap to answer my post about being POW and escape! PRICELESS!!! ;)
(of course I didnt mean that serious - no need to answer everything in here with a 100% serious attitude)

Nobody will be sitting there useless or waiting to burn, there is a Scuttle key, which you will press if you are not an idiot, and which will simulate the crew disabeling and abandoning the tank.

It's only been mentioned 3483729 times though, so i can see why this still hasen't sunk in :troll:

But will it simulate that it takes a few seconds to get out of the tank OR will you get out immediatly?
So my suggestion has a point!

Unknown, they haven't said, though i suspect it will not be instant personally (Ramm said he never liked that players could insta-bail in Ost to deny the enemy a kill they should have earned, so it seems likely to me that scuttle will have some kind of delay, or players could just do the same thing with scuttle).
