Oh yea and here see that article of sharpening the german law because of customers: http://spiele.t-online.de/c/15/00/77/92/15007792.html read the 4th textblock mate. they shapened the german censoring because of that 3 times mate. use translator or somethin.

I did not say with any word that the law was founded because of it i said it has sharpened and censoring has become much harder because of it.

ministers of the interior of all sixteen German federal states came together for a conference today in Bremerhaven where they agreed to forbid the production and distribution of all video games "where the main part is to realistically play the killing of people or other cruel or unhuman acts of violence against humans or manlike characters."
...For the law to become a reality it must go through parliament in the next few weeks or months.

The home secretaries of the German countries want to forbid all "Killer games" (as they call them). If you're lucky Killing floor gets rated 18+ and not on the index. There are no guidelines the USK rating, it's pure disposal.

In my opinion Killing floor shouldn't be played by teenagers, but must not be forbidden (= indexed). The trick is to get an USK rating of 18+, then the game can't be indexed anymore (afaik).

Please convince Valve of introducing an age verification system in Steam. I got a Steam group for adult German gamers, called AVS Jetzt but it hasn't got enough members to change anything yet.

A lot of German Steam players are having friends in Austria or Switzerland who gift them the uncut game, so it's pretty easy to get the uncut version anyway.

It may be cheaper to stop selling the game in Germany and let Germans get it from friends. Don't know what they charge for the rating though. Most adult German games hate cut versions and don't buy them.

What is the currend status on this? If I buy the game via steam now will I get a uncut version? Will the game stay uncut or is there a possibilty that it will be censored in the future?

I also want to know, how the status is?

I recently bought the DLC to support Tripwire and because I really like the game as it is!

But IF there will be a afterward cut for all the ones who log into steam with a german IP (like it is now with RO), then this is it, no more supporting TWI!

I get it as a gift from a friend in the UK, so I'm legally (in any way) own this uncut copy of KF.

So please TWI don't make something wrong or stupid. ;)

Ok, just a thought from a technical standpoint, i havnt played red orchestra, but i can see people saying it was cut, if it patched to be cut for everyone,i can understand. Otherwise you're get gonna get mismatching.

With how unreal engine and the servers work, if you have a cut version or altered version of KF released into Germany, unless you guys have figured out how to integrate the versions for online play, it won't work anyway.

E.g: When a new patch is released and some servers are not updated, you cannot join them, or it starts to download the old texture files. So any of the cut German editions of the game would need specific servers with low content files, or they would be downloading the majority of the game (although i'm sure the server can only push certain files of a main game) anyway from the server, making it "illegal" again.

So just a thought from that standpoint :p

Well, in UT2004 all files are uncut, just disabled.
Changing 2 lines in your User.ini will do the trick.
Dunno how about RO.

Thank god Valve made me swear never to buy cut games again.
I think EVERY SINGLE Valve game is cut.
Even the greatest killergame of em all, Portal... xD

Actually most of Valves games are cut, but at least Valve allows you to play the game you payed for. If you buy uncut, you get uncut. Tripwire seams to let you pay full price to take parts of it away later... I got no other explanation why the refuse to answer the question.

I will not buy killing floor under this circumstances, which is a shame because it looked fun...

Killing Floor is uncut. I don't know what your problem is.

Also cut versions and uncut versions of UT2004 and RO can play together just fine so I also don't know what the problem is there. Also, in case of UT2004 the later patches made the game uncut again if you installed them in English and the cuts in RO are only minor and even the cut version is extremely brutal.

So again, I absolutely do not get what the problem is.

I won't pay for a cut game(and if the producers won't guarantee it remains uncut I think it has to be treated as if it was cut right now). I dont do this because I need the brutality for some perverted reason, but because our laws do not force publishers to do it. And I got hooked on this crazy freedom thingy, it comes with this freedom of speech thingy... Its totaly amazing, BUT it has some drawbacks. One is that you start to hate censorship, be it self inflicted(like in the case Killing Floor will be censored retroactive) or forced(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Shield_Project).

If KF stays free everything is fine, if they decide to censor it do you realy think I'll get a refund?

The problem is that steam might decide to cut my uncut version because of my german IP irreversably (thank you, non-deactivateable auto-updates) once the german version with the gibs replaced by springs and teddys gets released, despite me having gotten it as a gift from someone in the US (which I hope will not be the case).

That might very well happen because valve decided to censor half life episode 1&2 later on even though it has been uncensored before (the fact that the orange box is 18+ rated doesn't mean anything apparently, the german tf2 has been censored into ridiculousness as well and their customer support basically says 'buy the game again as an import and **** off LOL'. But that doesn't belong here).

HOWEVER
The german version of resident evil 4 (I don't have 5) isn't cut at all while the zombies in l4d can't get beheaded and disintegrate immediately as soon as they die. (zombie ghosts)
The rating seems like a pure gamble with very diffuse rules. It's just ridiculous.
Germany is pretty much hell for gamers imo. Pay extra and get a neutured product (for steam, $=

BUT at least you will get your games uncut with German ip if you bought uncut... So its okay, they say: If the shop is able to sell it to you, you must legally own it and we won't mess with it.

yes you can shut off steam updates per game, and only allow it to patch after you have got the release notes. just right click on the title in the games list --> properties --> updates tab --> choose "do not automatically update this game" in the drop-down box. but then you might have problems connecting to servers online because of version mismatch, depends on how it gets implemented, this kind of censoring is usually client-side only though so you should be ok.

I hate to say it but if govt censorship of games is really the issue you should be taking it up with the institution responsible for defining that censorship. Currently TW has to abide by any terms set when applying for listing. We could completely ignore all requests to self censor to appease government ratings systems but failure to comply means getting indexed. Killing Floor would no longer be displayed on shelves (sales to minors outright), could not be advertised in any way, nor could it be featured or reviewed in any magazine.
If KF gets indexed it may as well not exist.
