I don't even have ROOST yet, but I'm excited that I might get it someday. But; I'm a tactics person. I've played a lot of Brothers in Arms and Rainbow Six 3 before, and I'm no rookie when it comes to tactics. (By the way, I joined in 2006! I haven't been here for a year. How're you guys doin'?)

-Take cover frequently.
-Always ask for back-up to come with you.
-Set up teams; the fire team suppresses the enemy, the assault team charges the enemies (or you could bring the assault team on the flank and finish the enemy.
-In games like these, I follow the US Airborne's Four F's: Find, fix (suppress), flank, and finish the enemy.
-Always have a tank crew & commander with you. If you see no enemy tanks nearby, use the tanks as mobile cover.
-Suppression means to fire blindly; once your team has got the enemy pinned down, kill the enemy.
-If you cannot see the distance enemies, and you aren't sure whether they're a friendly or not, look down your sights. If he's greenish, don't shoot. If it's a bluish-grey, shoot 'im!
-All in all; don't get shot. We'll see you up front, soldier.

If I do get ROOST, my game name will be AmericanInfantry. I'll be waiting.

Good nickname, cuz I think colt 45 nickname is already taken. I've seen it couple of times a while ago.

All but the last one is wrong, or will never happen. Welcome to RO.

Yeah kind of agreeing with this here. Although finding effective cover is an excellent idea, it's not a good idea to rely on tanks, nor is ita good idea to hunker down for too long.

Oh and supression fire is not "blind fire". Suppression fire is best achieved by picking a specific target or group of targets and just pouring the lead in there to either kill them or keep thier heads down. This is why I tend to unload a large portion of my magazine if I'm firing at any kind of range with the MP40. At least I'll make him keep his head down for a second while I advance, and even an unsupported MP40 can put fire fairly accurately into a target if you know how to control recoil.

Your sights won't help you see anything as there's no secondary iron sight zoom. Oh, and don't always rely on color, you'll learn that quickly on Kriegstadt and a few other maps with custom skins.

Besides, there's no such thing as blueish grey in RO.
The Germans are greenish and the Russians are a brown/yellow tone.

Thanks for pointing my mistakes out.:p

I'd like to give some examples for weapon usage (almost like a quiz to help me learn about ROOST).

1. You're in a building with a semi-auto SVT40. There are 2 dead bodies: one with an MP40, and another with a PPSh. You hear gunfire upstairs. Which weapon do you pick?

2. You're a tank crewman. You're pistol is empty, and there is an MG42 firing in the distance. You see a bloody Mauser K98k on the ground. Do you use it?

3. You're a demolitions expert (the bazooka/Panzerfaust users). You see a group of 3 to 6 soldiers huddling around an MG'er who's reloading his machine-gun. Do you fire at them with the bazooka/Panzerfaust, or do you use an StG44 you see in a blood-filled crater?

There are no right or wrong answers. Answer and tell your opinion. Remember, this is just to see what I should do in a situation whenever one like the above happens.

Er, the Germans definitely seem bluish to me, certainly not dominately green, and the Russians have a prominantely green-yellow hue. Might want to get your eyes/monitor checked.

Oh. In the MoH and Brothers in Arms games, the Germans have a blackish-bluish tint. I guess they had different colored uniforms on the Eastern front.

Can you guys also tell me about weapon strategies?

Basically, start with a bolt action when you start playing, tough it out untill you feel comfortable with it, then you'll be a LOT more efficient with everything else. If you're using an automatic, use controlled bursts otherwise you'll likely just spray all over the place or overheat your MG.

Once you get good, it's possible to accurately unload an entire magazine from an MP40 or PPS at someone, which is great for suppression. I know when I'm playing Kriegstadt and I need someone to keep thier head down, you just fill the window with lead. Either they keep thier head up and die, or get down and give you a few seconds to move up.

For MGs though, I've found it's more efficient to use them to lock down a certain area/corridor rather than just general suppression. The barrels overheat fairly quickly, so it's hard to keep up sustained fire for long periods.

Also, learn how to make long-range panzerfaust shots. Your team will love you.

So, you spray lead in the window, right? He doesn't notice you're behind him. BAM! He gets bayonetted or whacked with your gun. I'd love to do that one day!!

Only one solution here: fix bayonet, and rush upstairs.

As for the other questions, Panzerfausts are very ineffective anti-infantry weapons... unless you manage to precisely land the warhead on him. It doesn't have splash damage. Better use it against tanks.

Tank crewmen generally don't engage infantry on foot, they have their tanks for that:p

Also, suppression isn't really part of RO. At long range, it's all about being the more accurate shot. And in CQC, the guy who is the better hipshooter wins.

I suck at hipshooting; I am usually the dead soldier. But I can pull off some kills with hipshooting.

And I also need to bring up my iron-sights quicker and try to kill with them.

I don't care a lot about that supressive fire. Might work IRL, but not usually in games. IMO it's best to fire few aimed shots/bursts at the enemy and relocate/advance if possible. Flanking is done by individuals if they see a good opening. Team of more men than one or two draw attention, fire and grenades and so much for that flanking attempt. One guy with SMG can wreak havoc if he violently pushes forward from the flank while the enemy is engaging rest of the squad. If there's cover a nimble SMG-gunner can easily take out 4-5 men before they have time to react and if everything goes well the rest have already been eliminated by accurate fire by the rest of the squad.

At individual level I'd say there are two important things. First, use cover a lot, even if it means that you can't engage the enemy. Shoot one shot or short burst concentrating on the closest target and go back to cover or if possible move to other place, no matter if it hit or not. Most people get frustrated when they see someone but can't shoot him back. Either they try to throw grenades, and that makes them vulnerable for head on assault since they don't have gun in their hand, or they charge and move into the open and that makes them easy targets. Second, if you see an opening, use it and try to get to flanks of behind the enemy. Wait a while in cover and see if you were followed by the enemy, and then hit fast and hard.

Umm...No, they did not.

Plain and simply, MoH and BiAs just did it wrong...
