Like the gun thread but about blades.

:IS2:DISCUSS:IS2:

I would like to own a sword someday, for dress up, theres a company called Cold Steel that makes functional replicas of swords, I would like to get a sword from an actual swordsmith though, as long as its functional but not 7582750275020 dollars.

As for knives, I would like to note that I'm not an extreme hardcore knife fanatic who wants to have a huge collection with 583750875021 dollar knives and carry 20 knives around at once. I do however think that knives are essential tools and I wouldn't want to cheap out on one. I would honestly want 1 or maybe 2 Swiss army knives, a fixed blade military knife, and any bayonets for any guns I get.

I've still got my saber left over from my time in the US Navy. It sits in its scabbard, leaning on the wall in the corner of my office. Can't remember the manufacturer, but it's a good quality blade, could be sharpened and used if needed.

I've got a variety of small blades for work and whatnot. I used to get the cheap Smith & Wesson knives at Big 5, but they kept falling apart so I finally broke down and spent the money on a Kershaw Blur.

I know that Cold Steel makes fully functional US Army and US Marine Corps swords, thats cool.

Yeah its probably a good idea to get a good blade, just something that works.

When I have money I'm going to buy a as-close-to-historically accurate-as possible Roman gladius.

YouTube - Gen2 Gladius

Amazingly sharp, and it wasn't even designed to be used as a slashing weapon.

I'll probably have to dish out some serious $$$ though because a lot of the replicas aren't as close to the real thing as I'd like.

I'm still amazed at the balls guys had to go into battle back in the sword and spear days... so much more up close and personal and terrifying than modern warfare. Men have really gotten weak in the last few centuries, with all our modern comforts, not to mention the whole BS feminism movement that makes manly dudes out to be "chauvinist pigs".

I was thinking of collecting blades but I'm very uneasy around sharp things.

Fat boy's got some nerd rage going on. Some Conan envy too.

Also, I lold when they switched to the skinny little Asian dude for the pull-up demonstration.

Pullups are waaay easier when you weigh less, you can get a kid (who's not 75837583258 pounds) to do several pull ups easily.

Searching for survivors.
Anyone know a good quality knife I could get for stabbing? I am hoping to spend less then a 100 bucks. My semester ends tomorrow and I like to go biking by myself in the forests around where I live. Since I usually end up miles away from civilization I want a nice knife just in case. I already own a Kukri but it isn't really made for stabbing.

I was thinking maybe a KA-BAR since they don't seem too expensive (and the main character in Sons of Anarchy owns one and it looks sweet as hell), any opinions on this or better recommendations? Links would be appreciated.

What's wrong with a simple sharpened buck knife?

Don't need to drop $100 on a Rambo knife for stabby time.
