I don't understand, do people really think this is suppressive?

(why aren't there [spoiler=...] tags by the way, useful for large images...)

Well, we can see some of what they are doing, but until we get our hands on it, there is no real way to get a true understanding of how this game will work. I just hope it's soon.

The demonstrator did mention that recoil would be harder to control when suppressed.

I think you can't get all the supression stuff from the video you have to play the game to "feel" it.

Just finished watching the videos, and it's looking very impressive.
The way the MG can quickly reload, and move from areas should mean the MG becomes the most feared guy on the battlefield (altho, that might depend who is using the class...)

Sitting and moving inside the tank should make you feel a lot more involved in the battle.

Can't wait to start playing.

The key for me with suppression is how it actively makes it more difficult to aim in the sense of for instance make it harder to hit a pixel.

If its only visual and sound effects going on, then ill probably be able to ignore it within a few rounds of play and simply pop an mg at any range with complete ease. As visually so far the suppression system seems less intensive than it was in ostfront.

Question for TWI;
Will the blindfire of the Heavy mg also have more random sway?

It would be cool if a sniper a few windows further could guide the machine gunner just by saying where he's shooting.
(you're too low, now spray while turning right, they are all hiding there)
Could really make it nice teamplay feature

This.
Didn't see like much was happening, maybe mouse sensitivity was numbed heavily?
He said something about recoil, but the recoil on the MP40 appears to be very low to begin with, and recoil doesn't matter at all with bolt action rifles.

If it is still the same as from the interview when they were first talking about suppression they said because your heartbeat accelerates your breathing does as well which in turn makes it harder to aim with there breathing model, sort of like you sprinted for a bit then tried to shoot I imagine.

Just a sidenote; the recoil is indeed very low (like it should) but sways like hell, as seen int he video. If this swaying is even worse in suppression, this would definately work for automatic guns.

But I agree, it looks like it doesn't really do anything. But we'll see when we get our hands on it.

Oh, it does dod "something", don't worry. No more pop-up riflemen knocking off MGs at 300m, while the MG is splattering their immediate vicinity with rounds :) All you're really getting on that vid is the immediate visual effects...

Amazing video, can't wait for the player beta. Also someone with a GT account should tell those idiots that this is a cam and not going to be the actual graphics of the game.

I think people are forgetting about bullet penetration.

The visual feedback plus bullet penetration sounds like a good enough combo to get more realistic suppression.

The suppression we've seen previously in DH was ONLY visual. That's why it had to be a bit "over the top." If you add in the more likely chance of getting hit through cover, you'll likely act more suppressed.

2 other things.

This is still a cam, so you probably can't see the extent of change from normal to desaturated. It'll be a lot harder trying to pick out an enemy soldier when they blend into the background more due to the whole scene being desaturated.

My guess is the suppression bar will only be in relaxed realism.

Think about this. The TWB and Crosshairs played the alpha. Did any of them complain about the suppression system being too weak?

In DH it forcibly threw your view around by a few degrees, so it became impossible to even keep your weapon pre-sighted on something. It suppressed you by making your rifle completely useless.

The suppression system also has a sound suppression effect, right? I mean, there will be bullet cracks and bullet whiz like we see more enhanced in DH? Those suppress me a lot more than any visual suppression effect :D
