NICE

It's great to hear that Family and Friends beta is about to start. And plenty of other new stuff!

Also, they've said before that they use an extremely easy mode for demonstrations, so they don't get slaughtered ;)

Coming along great guys.
Although I'm not much into the tanker positions, you guys have put a ton of detail into them and I know the more hardcore tankers will be pleased (Or at least have less too ***** about).
On that note the small arms that I saw in the video are also looking good, the animations on the G41 were smooth and natural feeling. I specifically liked how the Mosin Nagant was a little jerky on the bolting, as that is exactly how it feels for me (atleast on my particular rifle, it's not one smooth pull, but rather a few rough motions as the video showed.).

WOOOHOOOO!!

Nice video! So much orgasmically awesome stuff.

I really love the cover mechanics like ducking and being able to do all kinds of stuff in such a fluid way. The MG movement stuff is AMAZING, especially the ability to automatically deploy on prone as well as automatically redeploying the gun's position when you move far left or right.

The supression system looks great, though the heartbeat sound is a bit annoying, especially when the player goes in and out of suppression. Just an observation.

The tank stuff looked amazing and I'm really happy to see that parts of buildings can be destroyed. It was also great to see some G41 and Mosin action!

Just realized I forgot to mention something.

The only thing that REALLY concerns me is the elements of the ranking system. According to the video, these are the categories in which your soldier improves:

Stamina amount
Movement speed
Suppression resistance
Weapon focus
Stamina resistance
Ammo distribution

I don't have a problem with suppression resistance, weapon focus, or ammo distribution, because those are all things that I can see improving with a soldier's real-life veterancy.

However, I DO have a problem with stamina amount and movement speed. I have a hard time understanding why a veteran soldier would magically be able to move faster on the battlefield than a non veteran soldier. The idea of higher ranking players running around faster, no matter how dramatic it is, makes me cringe in a game like Red Orchestra.

The same goes for stamina -- why would a veteran have MORE stamina? These things don't seem realistic at all and I really hope the devs reconsider including them in the ranking system.

Awesome!!

The weapon handling and the fluidity are AMAZING.

Even Firefight sound like it could be fun, if the game keeps the players spawning close to each other. I was afraid it would feel like total chaos.

I was also skeptical about the destruction system, but it seems very nice.

One thing I always wondered is how many people I've killed in RO. Good think this will have the total kill count. =3

Now, all that is left is to see HD footage of a real player vs player match.

TWInning!

Looks good. The ducking looks nice. Still watching the first video. I like the fact that the mounted MGs spawn randomly. I was hoping this was the case, good to know it is confirmed. Makes the game play slightly different each round.

Things that can use improvement:

- The "magazine feels close to empty" being in the middle of the screen. Move it back to the corner and make it small. Things that block your light of sight are annoying. :)

- Weapon reloading seems a bit quick if you are storing your old mags. If the player throws away the magazine (even if bullets are left in in, think of RnL or GRAW) then it seems fine.

- Suppression bar. Even for relaxed realism mode, I don't see why there should be a bar. The desaturation and breathing alone should be enough to let players know when they are or are not suppressed. It just looks cluttered and old fashion, considering games like BFBC2 have even went away from displaying stamina/health bars.

- Weapon switching. Looks far too fast.

- I think the death animations/ragdoll effects looked more authentic in RO1. I know this is still WIP though.

I agree on all fronts! Small details but that's what the TWI team is all about.

He brings up good points. A veteran could be tired or slightly injured, making them slower. In addition, a veteran might just be a less athletic person period. Too many variables to implement such a thing realistically.

I'll mirror Hockeywarrior's concern. Just seems gamey to me.

Holy **** @ those tank position change animations.

Also the new pick-up mechanism is great, hopefully weapons/ammo don't disappear as fast as they used to.
