Yeah its cool, besides that other FPS that attempted the pacific this will be good. Lots of battles and locations that have never been implemented in a FPS shooter before. I hope they just dont stick to US but plan to include Aussies, limeys, and Chinese. Great battles from the Islands, jungles, burma, and urban battles like Manilla and more.

Question"

Will it have a single player campaign ?

And "

Will it feature any kind of single player elements.

If none of the above are correct i shall continue to work on my mod as a minority who enjoys the single player experience.

"GameSpy: As a total conversion, describe some of the elements that make Rising Storm a different RO2 experience.

Tony: In regards to gameplay we believe that, with Rising Storm, we are going to have to box clever to bring together two sides who are, on the face of it, fairly asymmetrical in terms of weaponry. The Japanese had very, very few automatic weapons and virtually no semi-automatics.

We could play tricks like nerfing US automatics and semi-automatics to address this balance issue but would probably get lynched by the realism fans and, frankly, it doesn't sit right with us, either. So we are working on other ways to make both sides enjoyable to play, whilst remaining true to authentic weapons and loadouts."

Finally some information about Rising Storm! I really really hope TWI gets them (and the rest of us) the SDK soon so we can begin to see much more frequent media updates.

SDK is needed my main concern is everyone is going to mod into the MP side of things when i think both should be done up.

What i mean is SP & MP as i enjoy both just as much as the other.

Anyway its early days lets wait and see.

I hope this mod does really well and is a paid expansion even tho we all would like a free mod this team deserves our money .The other 2 mods planned should be a free expansion unless their just spectacularly good.

Trust me even if Rising Storm is a pay DLC it will offer 200% more content than big name companies shallow DLC's with a few maps and a short single player campaign.

And TWI hasn't sold out and is staying true to their roots offering free range for mod teams to get their start.Which in today's world is really rare I think it will pay off for TWI in the long run.And maybe by the time Ro3 releases they will have made enough money to buy w/e engine they choose for it ...or perhaps create their own :)

On a side note im curious how weapon balance will play out in RS the americans had a huge advantage in weapons in the pacific war.At the time the only modern weapon the japs had was the type 99 LMG which was a good mg.

Maybe to counter crappy weapons the japs will get a banzi bayo bonus that would be sick! lol.

Looks ok I guess, nothing makes me want to part with my cash yet. I don't like the sound of the Mod team though

We have had freelancers coming in trying to dictate rates that they feel they should be paid

lol are you serious? how does he think Freelancers make a living? what a Moron.

I am definitely encouraged by the bit where Tony says:

Tony: In regards to gameplay we believe that, with Rising Storm, we are going to have to box clever to bring together two sides who are, on the face of it, fairly asymmetrical in terms of weaponry. The Japanese had very, very few automatic weapons and virtually no semi-automatics.

We could play tricks like nerfing US automatics and semi-automatics to address this balance issue but would probably get lynched by the realism fans and, frankly, it doesn't sit right with us, either. So we are working on other ways to make both sides enjoyable to play, whilst remaining true to authentic weapons and loadouts.

A lot of this is down to the level design but that is not to say that our coders are not spending a lot of time and brainpower bringing in other ways of addressing the balance. Quite how shouting "banzai" will help in this matter is a subject of extensive speculation on our forums (and within our team).

This gives me great hope that Rising Storm will not abandon realistic weapon loadouts like RO2 did. Huzzah! Yay realism!

Darkest Hour is a perfect example of very assymetrical gameplay that works just fine. Most of balance, as Tony points out, comes down to solid map design and giving players plenty of space to experiment, maneuver, and use tactics. Real life war is very unbalanced, and yet the battles turn out to be very pitched. Similarly, if you set up things the way they were, players will figure out the rest -- even if the equipment is assymetrical ;)

So essentially this "mod team" is really just a private contractor for TWI under the condition their product is decent they will get money for selling it....

TWI must be happy to have free labor that only gets paid if their product is successful....

Hopefully the team making this mod work on the shaders and vegetation, it looks a few generations old - you can tell the RO2 team did not work at all on nice vegetation being set in Stalingrad during the winter months. The thing that makes doing any FPS set in a jungle difficult is the need for good quality graphics, it is a lot easier to make drab buildings look good than a jungle mountain.

Guess I was always under the impression mods were free, but then again A LOT of games are going to be coming out between now and next summer, who knows if I will even be playing RO2 by that point considering how bored I am already getting of it with its shallow no tactics gameplay and hand holding. It is so easy to just rack up points and kills.

Rising Storm team also has the benefit of watching the entire RO community b!tch and moan about load outs and game play so hopefully they take the hint and ere on the side of realism :D

and honestly stop with the vegetation - Go play Crysis or whatever you people with your fancy computers play.... I want solid performance, game play, and content. A free mod that focuses too much on graphics is gonna take a hit in a more crucial aspect

The point is that it is NOT free. If it was going to be free, I would say no one can complain - its free. But when they expect to sell a product to compete with modern FPS's, they are going to have to compete with graphics too.

Obviously they can not make graphics the likes of Crysis, Far Cry, or Battlefield 3, but they can surely make graphics better than Battlefield Vietnam....

Same here and if they did they wouldn't have the problem of balancing auto/semi-auto vs boltie.
Plus it would include the Bren and Owen guns! :D

Did I see 1st person legs in the end? Or are my poor eyes deceiving me? =D. Though it's probably just for the cinematic (can't get my hopes up now can I ^_^)?

Well you sure don't get bored of *****ing on the forums. I decided to take a quick look at your posting history... and its a constant stream of pissing and moaning. It's obvious you have an ax to grind. Hopefully, you'll move on soon here too.
