hey everyone - i'm new to the forums and this is my first post.

i just want to say WOW. i'm thoroughly impressed with RO:HOS. tripwire has really thought of everything down to the little details. The level of innovation they've brought to the table is phenomenal. I love the new objective based game mode and how the music changes. Beyond being an intense military sim/shooter, it also looks like an incredibly fun and challenging game to play. if i had any criticisms, it may be that some of the animations seem a little exaggerated, but overall I'm really looking forward to playing this when it comes out.

Welcome to the forums mate! :)

Yeah we all are looking forward to seeing more HoS stuff and I hope you may be enlightened by the almighty IS2 soon.

Well, it was probably influenced by the Danzig vid.
The AI were just swarming all around the objectives, ignoring players, running past them and turning around etc.

I'm quite interested how they will be in the final product. :)

Ignoring players usually got to do with difficulty setting, as in if you set it hero difficulty they will see you coming from a 2km distance.

I think in general the AI looks pretty nice. Although at times bots seem undetermined whether to go left or right and then just decide to spin around. And they often take cover at a wrong side.

The only thing I would like is bots somehow learning from online play what spots work well and where to expect players to come from and setup defenses based on that.

physics ?

physics ?

I personally think RO:HOS looks f***ing amazing so far ! Nice new features, great graphics and with "countdown" a gameplay mode that really turns me on.

The concern about "the whole team respawning" is correct in my opinion. It would take the ones who survided out of the action and atmosphere, despite the example given of the MG-Gunner who got his great place and then starts again with a disadvantage.

However I do think that TWI will handle it somehow and as we heard its an late Alpha Version of the game, so this means to me , thats its not already time to piss my pants. :p

The thing that me concerns a bit and i was wondering why noone else wrote it, is the fact that when the arty comes in, it looks like the houses just change to some kind of "destroyed" status. So it means that there is nothing like a real physics engine !? Or do i get it wrong ? So that would mean that they all would have the same "destroyed textures" over and over again and that fences would always brake at the exact same point.
And that brings me to the question, when shooting a house with a tank, there wont be a hole in it, but instead it would "magically" change to " destroyed house texture".

Sorry for my english, it is not my mother tongue and i hope it still gets clear what i mean. If i am wrong, i would be happy to be proven so. :)

Best regards to everyone and keep up the great work TWI lads !

This game will RULE !!! :IS2::eek:

We (Gamers.fr) re-uploaded the second gameplay video that was broken when we first posted it. Sorry for the inconvenience, we really are in a hurry to go to every appointment so we didn't notice the problem quickly enough and it took us time to be able to access an Ethernet cable in the press room. (It was so crowded at times)

That's the video that Nar6 just re-posted. Thanks to you by the way. It should be in 720p HD glory in no time. Near the end, you can take a look at the new features of the sniper and at what the artillery can do. :)

I just saw today that a sequel is in works for Red Orchestra, and looking at the video in the news, and the official site, i said wtf?
The original title was a uniqe innovative stuff with those vehicles in it, it was the perfect blend between simulation and gameplay, and i just bought becasue of the tanks, i didnt play much with the infantry because that was just the good old shooter like in any other games, and its booring like hell.

RO will have vehicles, you can see it on the gamescon screenies. Read the fact thread to find info on the game.

When i saw the news about RO2 before seeing the site my first thought was that finally a great war sim will be out with planes, bombers etc., not an other simple ww2 shooter again.

RO never had planes and bombers, it's not a BF title (thank god). At most it was a ground combat simulator, though it's main focus was always infantry.
RO (and HoS) arent just simple shooters. Research before you post ffs.

Saw the second part of the video.

I like the radial command menu. Looks nice, and you won't get lost in it. Though, I still think I prefer SWAT 4's list.

*Nitpicking here*

I like how you can use iron sights as a sniper, but I don't like how your scope and sights can magically reset the range they are at.

Maybe it is asking for too much, but animations would be nice. Because that looked near instant, I know in real life you don't adjust your sights every few minutes that quickly. So it looks like something that would be used too much, which makes realism suffer. And makes the game a bit easy.

I know it takes almost no effort to adjust a Mosin's sights for elevation, but still, you'd take your hand off the trigger (or maybe use your support hand) to change it. During this time you shouldn't be able to fire or at the least have your arm obscure your view.

Maybe this is nitpicking too much, but IMO, it should be done for iron sight adjusting, otherwise people will do it far too frequently. :p

What's up with the sudden slow to a turtle crawl when he picked up that Mkhb\whateverthehellitwas prototype compared to MP40 or did he just start walking around randomly?

Arguing about it's heavier weapon doesn't really make sense as you would need to carry other part of Maxim, some LMG or several thousand bullets before the weight in your arms would actually slow down your basic movement.

Alternatively it might be the weight system as he would be carrying multiple weapons around but even that's bit far fetched considering the sudden change in speed.

I think they did it like KF where each gun has a set weight and the amount your carrying inversley relates to how fast you go. so b/c of that there won't be any gradual changes in speed depending on how many guns you have but more sudden changes. maybe they can add this new feature in RO3:cool:

That second vid looks really interesting and there are a lot of nice features. My only concern here is that some of the features look to "easy" or "automatic", like the dialling of the scope and that weapons go in and out of ironsights extremely fast, with perfectly aligned ironsights nearly all the time.

Lemon you are like the nagging women I have to deal with on my second job in the evenings :D

I'd like to be able to love everything that TWI has shown in the videos put up this far but for every 2 nice features there is something that says "meh"for another.

If only TWI could show us an IS2... this would make me believe in true epicness again.

Thanks for the videos, looking quite nice (esp. for an UE3 game). Can't find a single thing to like about the UI, a game like RO should feature one that doesn't feel like an UI, in my opinion. Things like a slight animation change signifying when a gun is rested, instead of an indicator popping up. Or the leaders pulling out a hand-sketched map where they assign objectives. Could probably add a pseudo-realistic touch if you'd use more subtle cues instead of relying completely on the HUD to communicate with the player.

On the other hand, it's the current magic formula that make FPS like CoD (and only those) a success, and with grumpy, self-opinionated "elitists" always nagging about something, it's a sensible choice to market the game to a different group ;)
