Hey, talking about airplanes, did the Russian infantry (officers) ever call in airsupport from IL2 Sturmoviks? I know airsupport was almost non-existent for infantry in WW2, but would be nice if anyone knew more information on this.

Galslacht, I linked the pic here in another thread, but there's another slot available possibly for the airstike option. Historically though, for most of the battle for Stalingrad the Luftwaffe operated with air superiority over the city, while the Soviets had to rely almost exclusively on their artillery for additional support (emplaced on the east bank and islands in the Volga). But, this doesn't mean that for game balance purposes the Soviet teams in HOS won't be given air assets options too. Perhaps in the campaign system we'll see support assets reflect the historical realities of their availability (coming and going per map played). Lots of different mixes for these supporting options could be considered.

IMHO it's more fun when the forces are not "mirrored". If germans have air support - it doesn't mean that russians should have it too.
P.S. I prefer playing on the soviet side

I like that too, and it would portray more of the battlefield's desperation as the Luftwaffe attempted to tighten its grip over the city and squeeze the life out of the defenders. To the Soviets, everything above was hostile, and so they had to "hug the enemy" to try preventing being targeted.

I could see all these support assets being optioned though, per mission/map/server.

Thanks for the information. Airstrikes would be historically inaccurate, but its a game. I dont really bother about it.

Summoning the IS-2 Battalion through a time portal can be compared to the nuke from Call of Duty. Once they enter the battlefield, the game is automatically won for the Soviets. The Germans get nothing in comparison.

Well...the Germans actually did have an atomic weapon, it was just never fielded in time. It could level 500 square km. But since the :IS2: wasn't around in Stalingrad but you want it in, then why not have a German atomic weapon as well? That would surely even out the playing field :)

Only the commander can see it, and only when he's at the radio, and only the enemies that aren't inside a building. Settle down.

The commander will see the enemies first on it's radar, after a certain delay the squad leaders will see it, and finally everybody will see them. Not only the commander, but he does see it first before everybody else does.

That's what have been said in the presentation.

And the time delay is gonna be around 5 seconds or so for the normal rifleman to see it.

The time delay for every step down in rank is about 5 seconds its explained in the roladder interview. www.roladder.net.

So the arty dude receives it from the plane with a delay, he passes it on to squad leaders with a delay, who pass it on to regular guys with a delay. So before the information reaches a rifleman the info can actually be like 20 seconds old.

The way I understood it is that the Commander get's it without delay, the squad leader get's it a few seconds later and the infantry get's it around 5 seconds after the info was first given out to the commander.

Sounds like what Ramm said. He also said blobs are definitely out. I'm still hoping for numbers instead of dots. Same info, but I feel it breaks immersion less.
