What can be said is that in Russia the title is Red Orchestra 2 (for a reason), and in NA it is Red Orchestra: Heroes of Stalingrad.

will this reason be revealed to us in the near future?

if the game is the "same" game but has different names, i can already imagine the amount of "bug" reports that will fill the Steam forums with people being confused about which game they are playing.

Maybe because it says 'heroes' of stalingrad, which could indicate meaning soldiers from both sides. It after all was the most brutal battleground to Russia and is a little touchier subject than to most of us.

Well, same goes for Germany, as Wehrmacht soldiers are never called heroes there, except some Nazi parties use this for propaganda.

And yes, Tripwire will be on site at Gamescon.

Wouldn't Red Orchestra: Battles of Stalingrad be acceptable? Or is it the renaming of the city?

Personally, I'd prefer a simple Red Orchestra 2, a subtitle is quite unnecessary IMO...

Well, the problem with that is that it isn't Red Orchestra 2: Ostrfront 1941-45. The vanilla content is exclusivley Stalingrad, hence the name. Red Orchestra 2 would suggest the entirety of the Eastern front, from 1941-1945.

I think "Red Orchestra II: Stalingrad 1942-1943" would have sufficed as the official name, and the abbreviation just being RO2.

sure, the official title of the game (Red Orchcestra: Heroes of Stalingrad) was announced in may after Killing Floor was released....however it's still important to remember that "Game2" was "announced" to be in production sometime in 2007 if i'm not mistaken. ;)

Here's what the official announcement said in 2009, so the game is now in its 4th year of production

Ok, here is the official statement on the game for now. Yes there is an article about our new UE3 game Red Orchestra: Heroes of Stalingrad in the UK and US PC Gamer magazines. Frankly, we're more than a bit surprised at the timing of the release of the article. To put it quite bluntly we thought this would hit after the release of Killing Floor. As such we'll be doing a bit of a scramble to get our PR efforts in order while we are in the middle of getting another game ready to ship.

I know many of you have been waiting a very long time for this news, and I am very happy that we can finally confirm what we've been working on these past three years. RO:HOS (as we call it) is real, its using UE3, and its awesome Just bear with us while we recover from this unexpected announcement and in the immortal words of Battlestar Galactica - all will be revealed.

For now, we're not going to say anything else about the game. We'll let the article speak for itself. As Alan mentioned please don't post scans of the article on this forum. Additionally, please don't post quotes of text from the article on these forums. Our proper PR effort will begin in earnest soon, so you'll get more from us on that in the coming days.
