Hi everyone!

I bought the game yesterday, installed steam and RO, wanted to launch, but all what happend was the splash screen popping up and nothing more - no error message at all! My dear friend tried to help me with the known problems, but it did not help!

I even tried to start the game from the "red orchestra/system"-folder, where it said: "steam.dll not found", so i copied the steam.dll into the system-folder and the game finally ran. but when i tried to enter multiplayer, the message "steam is not runnig" but though it was gave me a headache....

I installed for the fifth time now in different combinations of unisntaling the game alone, deleting the game data via steam, unistalling steam, etc. all with the same result....

Interestingly the game is not installed in "steamapps/username/red orchestra" but in "steamapps/common/red orchestra" which does not suite any of the help i found here. I cannot even find a way to change the directory while installing or unregister the game to start over again.

My system is a Core2 Duo E6600, 2GB RAM, GeForce 8800GTS (640MB)
Windows XP - Avira Antivir - Ad-Watch - PC Tools Firefall (but even if I turn off all protection the same occurs...)
Even Ports are forwarded at my router....

I hope someone can help me with this problem

 MagSun

Steam/steamapps/common/RO, is the correct path.
Have you tried verifying your game cache ?

Open Steam, go to My Games, right click on the RO icon/properties/local game files/verify integrity of game cache...
Steam will verify and update if need be.

Good luck !

I've already tried to, the result is still the same

Yesterday I could start it once after I updated my video driver, but today all as usual...

Any other suggestions?

Try running UT2k, there is the demo out there on the internets.

That might tell you if its a system problem or game engine related.
Basically if UT runs RO should also.

People are having trouble with the 8x Nvidia cards, it could well be related !

UT2k4 runs without any prolems! And RO also should, as I copied the steam.dll into the systems-folder it did....

UT2k4 works perfectly (even RO when I copy the steam.dll into the system folder to test if it can be run....)

I can't remember what I else did to get it running....

Well yesterday after a cold booting I finally could start the game (again) and play.... until I rebooted my PC. Maybe there is a process which prevents the game from starting. Do you have any clue?

I suspect the "WinSys2.exe", which is a proces from my MSI-Videocard, which the System failed to run as the game was able to start. Maybe next time I should write down a protocol of running processes....

Well.... the problem seems to be solved. I ran "msconfig" and turned off some processes from the startup-option, e.g. "WinSys2.exe". Maybe it was really this process which prevented the game from starting properly.

THX for your help anyways.... :D
