[Movie] Game of Thrones

About the religious hoopla, and who hated whom that you cited.. You are obviously referring to material from the book because none of that can be gathered from the show I've been watching.

As for the religious stuff, yeah, I suppose. They didn't really get into - in the show - about so much of the religious stuff. Everything's there, just not necessarily spelled out and spoon-fed to you in tiny little Gerber bottles with the airplane going vrrrrroooooooooom until it gets into the hangar to give you a teensy little bit of applesauce.

For instance, Septa Mordane - Sansa's chaperone, the one that told her to get back to the quarters and stood in front of the Lannister troops ... she's a nun, more or less. The Sept of Baelor, where Ned was executed - equivalent of St. Peter's Basilica. The 7-pointed stars on the banners all around - the equivalent of crosses. Septa = nun, Septon = priest. Sept = church. High Septon - the guy standing behind Pycelle at the execution = Pope. The elements are all there in the show, they're just not necessarily explained.

In the show, the Queen hates Robert because she wants the damn Lannisters to have the Crown, not because he has a bunch of bastards.

That was one facet of it, yeah. Did you not listen at all to her telling Ned why she hated Robert?

Ned's wife.. I can't remember it being touched on at all the she despises Jon and him being at Winterfell because he's a bastard (at least I dont remember that if it was touched on). That's the depth you get from reading the book.

... except for the part where Catelyn told Jon, in the show, that she wishes it were him laying there paralyzed in a coma, instead of Bran. And the part when they found the wolf pups, and Jon somewhat bitterly says 'I'm not a Stark.' etc.

It's a total fantasy show to me and I dont try to tie together moralities between the show and some past era of Europe (and there was an actual zombie in the show, not just talk of one - that's fantasy). Again, too much time on the hands. Here I am being sucked into talking on and on about some fringe 'what-if' scenario that doesnt have anything to do with anything. Honorable or not having a bastard.. okay, not honorable? Does that change anything? It only adds to the depth of his character in my eyes.

Then you may well be the only person in the world who doesn't watch / read something and attempt to interpret it through his own knowledge / experience / etc.

Also, what I gathered by your speculating as to whether or not Jon is Ned's actual bastard is that Jon is somehow still alive or his position in the hierarchy plays a part in the later story. Knowing you've read all the books so far, it leads me to think this. Unless, of course, your wondering of his actual parentage has nothing to do with the story at all and is just another 'too much time on your hands' sort of things..

Just for reference, I didn't come up with the 'Jon is not Ned's' thing. It was suggested to me by a friend ... who had not read the books. She came up with it by Episode 5. Just from what she saw on the show. I've applied some free time toward fleshing out her idea more, and found that a lot of other people have thought of the same thing.

That said, however, I don't really know if it's something that matters or whether it's just a dead-end rabbit hole.

So. Yeah. And, at this moment, I do have too much time on my hands.

I saw this post on IMDB and it made me lol.

I have to admit that, for a guy, this is a bit of a dream come true... Sometimes it happens that you discover in a movie an actress you had never seen before and say "wow, that girl is gorgeous, who is she?". But how often does it turn out she is also a porn star, so you can actually find naughty pictures of her if you want..?
