may be you didn't know but after the fall of saigon . **** ton of south vietnam military personnel become criminal . you name it . they did it
from armed theft to heavily armed robber ,heavy armed rebel force , fake surrender and stealing military vehicles > escape to oversea . every vehicles from jeep to ****ing helicopter and even fighter jet

that why "reeducation" camps was born and im pretty sure even USA will do the same if they face a similar problem . hint :ww2 japanese-american concentration camps in US

one more thing : after i watch those favorite vietnam war movies scene (get some ,napalm ,ride of valkyrie,....)
even rising storm 2 vietnam video clips (trailer , gameplay , ...)
and read the english comments below . i feel like most of american and westerner just don't view anyone in their hostile countries as human being at all .
It's almost like they didn't like being conquered by the North.
And you really shouldn't be getting your viewpoint of America based on Hollywood films.

I think the swap is good. It prevents people hogging one side. I doubt many would play Vietnamese if they had the opportunity. I think the op would be better off with a single player campaign where he can role played better.

Can you point me to one? I'd gladly play it.

Didn't think so.

I think the truth is that if this feature didn't exist, everyone would always only want to be US troops and nobody would want to be NVA and the matches would always be lopsided.
It's very doubtful that your murrica centered worldview is applicable to "everyone".

Legality is a moot point here. Independence was attempted, it was squashed, people don't tend to be happy about that afterwards.
And your video link doesn't work, but in any case I'm done derailing this thread. There's already several points I've refused to get into earlier already because walls of text will end up happening.

It's not even applicable to a lot of people in the states either. Realistically most people will just play both sides regardless if they slightly perfer one over the other. That and the fact regardless if people want to play as North Vietnamese or not there's plenty of people out there who want to use their weaponry in the game, AKs, SVDs, RPGs, etc. Pretty sure that's part of the reason Germany was so popular in RO2, a lot of people think their weapons are cooler, frankly.

Only downside to teamswitching would be that the old grind would take longer - on the other hand it discourages me from grinding (haven't checked it there's weapon progression like RO2/RS) so I can focus on enjoying the game.
and it IS a great way to get to know the maps so you can anticipate where the enemy might be trying to sneak up on you from

I remember their was a mod for one of the ARMA games that had a singleplayer campaign
Pretty sure the old vietcong2 had one as well.
There are certainly plenty of RTS style vietnam games with campaigns.
Other than that you may have to make one yourself.
