FWIW-FPS comparison between RO1 and RO2

I played RO:OST for a while last night just to compare performance with RO2.
I had settings set to "highest" and on every RO:OST map I played I got 40-75 fps. This is basically the same as I'm getting on every RO2 map on "high" settings. I have had this level of performance since day 1 of the beta.

RO:O was running not so good for me too, but that's because it wasn't optimized for multicore and new architecture gpu's. Basically it wouldn't take advantages of new hardware optimizations, where RO2 should in theory.

Always runned RO1 at max with constant 45 fps and more

RO2 on the other hand...

ro1 ( aka ue2.5 ) uses 1 physical cpu. ( one core )

You guys are really trying to benchmark RO1, based on what is essentially UT2003/2004 era Engine (with many enhancements), and specced to be playable on a Geforce 6600, to RO2?

Of course you're going to have crazy high frame-rates in comparison.

Apples and Oranges guys... seriously yo.

That said, and I know others have repeated this ad-nausum, simple posts that just complain about the framerate issues do not help anything. There are constructive ways to create feedback about performance issues...

How can it be said that RO1 didnt run that good or how is it even comparable to RO2

Mostly high settings on my Rig of Pre-RO1
AthlonXP3000 with Geforce6600GT

Maxed it on my later upgrade
AthlonX2-3800 skt939
RadeonX1650

Never had an issue with later upgrades
AthlonX2-5200 sktAM2+ 8800GTS
Phenom9950 same mobo GTX260
PhenomX4-965 same mobo GTX260


Now I still max RO1 with my work PC (yes sometimes I stay after work and play it 30min before going home)

Core2D 1.86Ghz
Nvidia GT210

Yet I am sure I wont get high graphics on RO2... Hell I didn't even bother trying due to low cpu clock.


RO2 requires a VERY HIGH Clocked Tripple or Quad Core cpu due to 1 thread getting overwhelmed.

I get occasional Shuddering with my Phenom 965 @ 3.4Ghz and I see it run better when clocked at 3.6 or 3.8

I'm not complaining about performance; nor am I benchmarking anything. While it isn't clear from my post, what I'm really saying is that both games run equally WELL on my computer and that I have had a perfectly playable game (RO2) since the beta was released.

UncleDrax is right, there are plenty of "...simple posts that just complain about the framerate issues..." but not nearly enough that say, "It works just fine for me."
