I am getting sick of those whiners and people who are nagging all day because there are bugs or MKb this, Mkb that.

Give Tripwire the time to fix stuff and they will will fix the high priority bugs. The game had a very, very bad start, so it's TW to do something about that, but did you found any WWII game with this immersion, and realism?

I watched some BF3 footage from the beta. It looks way too much like a mix of MoH and BC2. The only thing that might make me buy it are the jet-plane fights.

Personally I think the future looks very bright for RO2.

Eventually the people who simply don't like the game will leave. Those who just want to troll and stroke their own ego or something will remain to try and torment the rest of us.

Mods will come out, dev support will likely remain strong, and the community of real players who want a thoughtful tactical game, rather than just mindless run and gun, will grow.

Personally I would hope that all the 'core content' DLCs are free. Maps, weapons, things that actually effect game play. Beside those I would love to see "Patron Packs", Optional skins or something you can 'buy' from the devs for $5 or so fans who still want to kick a bit of money to them every few months have something to buy, but it wouldn't be something you need for the game.

The future of RO2 is not good imo. Multiple issues, game play, maps, & timing are the reason.

People who want to run a server have to "apply" to get a ranked server. So the people that did, some were approved, some denied, some approved & still unable to get there server on the ranked list, yada, yada, yada, its a ridiculous mess.

The server browser seems to be filtering servers without filters enabled, another ridiculous mess.

MP sux for the most part, imo. Rifle players are usually getting mowed down by all the Machine gun players. Rifles are not real practical in so many maps with room to room fights. People can claim rifles were abundant in WWII, but soldiers that got killed didn't respawn, sooooooo, I'm sure most soldiers were not as carefree when hunting the enemy. I'm sure a few smart *** people will say they do fine with rifles. Good for you, multiple threads back up my statement.

People piss & moan about "campers", well, as stated above the rifle players are usually getting mowed down by the machine gun players. Who the hell wants to "advance" (especially when trying to learn the game & maps) to satisfy their machine gun team mates only to get killed rounding a corner & spend most of the game in spawn.

Stats are screwed thus adding to the machine gun issue.

Performance is all over the place for many people.

BF3 beta just started & goes public on Thursday, of which I personally am looking forward to after the disappointment RO2 has been to me & obviously many other people.

As an example, at the time of writing this post,

BF-BC2 has 2,992 current players.

CoD-BO has 12,796 current players.

CoD-MW has 21,365 current players

RO2 has 1,893 current players.

Like it or not, RO2 isn't doing well right now & I don't see it improving much regardless of "Mods" & patches with so many big names games (not just FPS games) on the horizon.

I blame the MKB.
I'd like to lay blame solely at the feet of the the njubgun*, for indeed it is silly, but the true range of reasons for the reduced player base are likely manifold and more complicated than just that one thing. All but junking the njubgun would please the vast majority of forum members, as would generally reversing the over-abundance of semis and autos in the game, but for some such changes may be too late. Why? Because they may have already walked away in protest of the creative forces that had these things included in the first place.

Personally speaking, I'm on the fence with RO2. If it were any developer other than TWI I'd probably have shelved RO2 and moved on, and proof of this faith in TWI is justified by their dedication in releasing frequent patches that have improved the performance of the game (for me at least) since release; that is reason to be hopeful about the future. However, after getting hammered for the umpteenth time by njubgun-toting Axis I'm usually coming away from the PC with a somewhat less than warm and fuzzy feeling about RO2 - but that's just a balance issue, isn't it? I fear it isn't just a simple matter of balance. I get the distinct impression that a dominant personality within the development team forced things into the game that probably didn't necessarily sit well with others; that is a reason to be not so hopeful about the future.

After years of playing RO1 I was as hyped as the next guy when I saw the interviews and game play demos of RO2 – hell, I pre-ordered pretty much on the spot – but as the final release has backtracked on so many key areas that dramatically alter the way that the game plays, I’m not in the least bit surprised to see that player numbers are falling away more rapidly than perhaps one might have expected.

Will I play RO2 tonight? Yes, I probably will because I like the core game play (even if Allies seem to nearly always lose) and I'm holding on to faith in TWI making RO2 a worthy successor to RO1. Will I continue to play RO2 in the near future if nothing is done (or no announcement of intent is made) about the run&gun sops that have been jimmied into the game? No, I probably won’t because that's not the kind of game that I ever expected would bare the RO name, and frankly, that wasn't the game that I read about and saw demo'd.

i dont know why people start comparing games..

BF is completely different then RO

Both for me personally are fun and challenging

there should be enough people to play both games

Well to be honest, i saw tons of footage of BF3 beta and it seems like a generic console port to me.
Sry guys, but I want the console supporting companys to burn and rott in hell...
TWI offered us a way out of these console dark age and i for myself am pretty thankfull for that.

While I widely agree on the fact that Console ports have done PC gaming so much wrong. I do not think that Red Orchestra 2 is that salvation just yet.

It's gameplay offers the depth that is to be expected from a PC title, it's graphics are very pleasing compared to bombardment of shaders we see in BF3. But at the same time it does not yet deliver the thing that makes PC gaming the best, which is a solid experience.

For that experience to happen we need to jump a few months ahead in time. When we reach that point, Red Orchestra 2 will be seen as the game that is truly worthy of using it as an example versus the many badly optimised ports we've seen the last few years.

Because I seriously do not think it is a contender when a PC-exclusive title is facing performance issues.

BF3 beta tested ... another portage console's kids. that s just another arcade ffa game.

Ro2 needs optimisations and some patches .. we know it... but we have to wait for them.
Lets see in the future, when the game ll run better without bugs ...
RO2 will need competitive mod to keep it alive for few years.
Please dont forget the gamers who want to play the competitive way.

In my opinion the biggest fault was the (afterwards) wrong decision of the release time.

After RO:O and also KF were more or less games for a smaller audience of (gun and realism loving :p) gamers they tried to reach a bigger amount of players with RO2:HOS. For that they increase the content (Single Player, Coop, Ranking system), offer different difficulties/realism-settings and advertise it like a big AAA title. Good idea till it came to the question about the release date.

Guess the biggest goal was before X-Mas 2011. Then only one question remained: before the biggest competitor (Battlefield 3) in terms of big multiplayer shooter or after it. They decided to release it before the Beta of BF 3 would start.

And that went terrible wrong, as the game was too far away from a finish product. That is really sad, as I would grant TWI a big succes with it. But now they not only loose some of the old RO:O veterans, who doesn't like the changes, but also new gamers stoped playing it (and with that stoped mouth-to-mouth propaganda) cause of the big issues after the release.

For myself I stopped playing it a while ago till the the stats/achievements are fixed. I beleive in TWI and I think they will bring RO2 to the state it should be ... but to my sadness many players will then already left this battlefield.

Yeah, and notice how, in game, the distances seem somehow to be at least DOUBLED? People look like ants from end-to-end of that small park, and running those tiny distances takes forever. Fallen Fighers is in reality one, small city block that seems to be half a mile long and a quarter mile wide during game play.

Riflemen have to go pixel hunting with one lousy shot across that narrow park width-wise (and pray that the hit detection works, the first shot actually fires, there's no lag/latency ...), while the rest just aim in that general direction and spray it full of lead. Everything about the game seems designed to make the rifleman a liability, as opposed to the majority, backbone of the German Heer which he actually was!

Good for you mate, good for you. Enjoy playing with yourself too :)

lol, gtfo

you are clearly just trying to be a d-bag...and you are succeeding at it.

go over to the bf3 forums... they are full of rage, refund requests, poor optimization rants, etc.

A way out into what, exactly? A mess of a game that's no more than a shell of what it should of been? idk, if I'm gonna play a game where everyone is running around with automatics, with 0 regard for anything other than kills, I'll go play BF3.

He does have a point.. At the moment RO2 is pretty much that at the moment.. Some of it is due to bugs.. LEvels and Achievements.. But some of its also down to design decisions that seem to have stepped into the direction of COD and BF

Most of the time I try to avoid threads like this but now even I'm wasting my time on it. Can't people who enjoy the game just find servers which play the maps and modes they like.

And people whom decided the ain't their thing just move on and play
thegame they like. RO2 ain't dying and won't be for a while.

I don't mind weapon load outs, hero status, stats. Killing a German with
that MK thing and grab it is a great experience. I like to play infantry maps like Appartments, Spartanovka, Barracks and Grainelevator.

So the advice is play the game in your desired mode and you will have fun.

I love the combat in this game. In that one area, its probably the best and most visceral experience ive had in a game yet. Beautifully done, and I have to congratulate TWI on that. Yet, very quickly im too losing interest.

By far the biggest problem for me with this game is the maps. I dont mean the number of them, but the quality of them. Theyre all pretty much close quarter meat grinder fests with no room for any strategic play, and every game sort of feels the same. I mean look at Apartments - even at the top down view of it. Its no bigger than your typical Call of Duty kill farming map.

We need large maps with room for maneuvrement and strategic play. City maps where you fight over housing blocks not over sole buildings. Open field maps where you have the opportunity to engage enemies at 300m+ ranges.

Sure, mods will deliver that in due time etc etc, but im really disappointed TWI havent themselves put more effort into the maps.
