Why would they charge it in a single line like that, had these battle hardened tankers never heard of flanking? And why would the Tiger just turn the turret instead of the entire tank, so as not to let the Sherman get behind it like that?

I *think* I read somewere that the tank museum wouldn't let them do anything strenuous on the tiger's tranny (being it was 70 years old and unreliable to begin with), which to be honest, I don't Blame them, it's the only running tiger in the world and it's their baby.

Fair enough on the part of the museum, but they should have switched to CGI for that specific part of the scene then, instead of letting realism go down the drain on account of it.

- Commander shoots 50 cal , standing ON the tank. Many ( much more than 3 ) germans are going around the tank on BOTH sides and.. do nothing. they had ****ing WEAPONS. They could ( and would actually do IRL ) to SHOOT him, but they were just walking around ad do nothing.

the ending battle is based on Audie Murphy's MoH citation: http://research.archives.gov/description/299775

"Murphy mounted the abandoned, burning tank destroyer and began firing its .50 caliber machine gun at the advancing Germans, killing a squad crawling through a ditch towards him. For an hour, Murphy stood on the tank destroyer returning German fire from foot soldiers and advancing tanks, killing or wounding 50 Germans."

Obviously Fury isn't depicting any true events but put in that context some of it's not so ridiculous

The report describes that the Germans were attacking an American defensive position in a treeline, while Audie Murphy was situated in front of that line with the tank destroyer.

It is understandable that the Germans had problems flanking and surrounding him in such a situation, since the defensive position in the treeline could prevent that.

None of that applies to the scene in the movie. The Germans had the capability of completely surrounding the tank from all sides.
