Those threads are complaining about performance issues and bugs, which were still far less in RO:OST at launch than RO2.
This says nothing about all the design decisions that have royally pissed off the fan base.
For the record, I was pissed about a number of design issues in Ostfront from the mod.... I just didn't bother to come into the forums to moan about them, because I knew it wouldn't make a difference & I'd just have to adjust.
I ended up just not playing Ostfront as often as I did the mod.
68.8 Hours in Ostfront since original release
121.8 Hours in RO2 since Beta
Not sure how many hours I played the Mod, as I didn't have UT2004 through Steam.... but it was almost every day for a couple hours each day, sometimes more..... I still might have played the mod more than I do RO2, I can't say....
Everybody has their preference and I know many enjoyed Ostfront more than I did..... but I wouldn't try to imply that nobody had any issues with the design choices in Ostfront, because I am one example.
But I think the point of this thread was to focus more on those people who rage quit RO2 because of performance and bug issues, who claimed Ostfront was perfect in almost every way and seem to forget that both Ostfront and Killing Floor had their list of issues too, which were all worked out over time through continued patches.
Obviously Tripwire is getting a clear message that the "Realism" mode does not go far enough to what some in the community want towards realism and I imagine that sometime down the road, more elements people liked in RO1 will most likely be introduced into RO2 in some fashion or another...... at the very least, someone will figure it out via the SDK, so there is still a future for those in the community who want something closer to RO1.
