A 3-dimensional circle grenade indicator can highlight where a friendly grenade is thrown to units in sufficient proximity. This greatly helps when voice chat is unavailable for one reason or another.

The indicator is mostly beneficial in clearing buildings as it will ensure that each player has the warning not to enter a particular room, just after it is thrown. This can equally apply to satchel charges deployed by friendlies albeit with a greater warning range. The rationale is that in pub play and in CQC it is impractical to depend on team mates warning you all the time.

Like the idea, but it hurts the immersion a lot. Would be nice as a server option in my eyes.
Just one question, why 3 dimensional?
Like a sphere around the grenade is not really beneficial when you are already out of range and it obstructs your vision.

Well, yes that is why I said sufficient proximity. So if it is close enough to threaten you, the circle shows up. Otherwise you will not see it.

It is basically your friendly telling you "I have just thrown a grenade into that room, stay back!" In the game it is difficult to convey these things using team messages or typing as you lose control of your character for some time and in any event it may be hard to explain where that grenade was thrown. Just think how much more team co-ordination there will be with this feature.

Why not in the "arcade" mode (it could help a lot the new players) ; but not in realistic mode : I know it's really frustating when a friend rush in your nade, but it's the war .

TBH I would like to hear a teammate calling "frag out" on voice chat, than see CoDish grenade indicator on the screen.

And it isn't "arcade" mode, just relaxed realism. We don't need to dumb down every piece of game to make it "more accessible".

Only COD offers 2-dimensional grenade indication, whereas this would show up behind walls and obstacles so you understand where it has been thrown. "Frag out" is problematic because it does not explain to you where the grenade was thrown.

I am just looking at ways to reduce FF. Functionality-wise this is realistic as the grenade thrower would take great care to warn his team mates who are in the vicinity. The only problem is the clutter obviously.

I personally don't like the idea myself, and I wouldn't want to see it in either mode. Why would you automatically know where a friendly nade lands?

My apologies, I missed that.

Still think it is kinda weird immersion wise. Maybe automatic 'grenade' which only you hear would be more appropriate

Nope. I'd hate to see a nade indicator in HOES. I do support the idea of "Frag/satchel out" however. At most, since you'll have the radar thing in relaxed realism, I'd accept the thrower's radar icon being changed into a flashing exclamation mark or dot or whatever...

I'm sorry, but no one simply rushes into a room after a friendly throws a grenade, cause the friendly would be like "Hey I'm throwing a grenade in there"
Which can be done with voice chat, or there needs to be a ingame "throwing grenade" when you throw it near friendlies or something.
I'd like to hear the "Realistic" war stories of people rushing into a room and a soldier picks his nose instead of telling people he just threw a frag in there.

Indicators: no, cause when you throw a grenade around a corner you shouldn't be able to see where it went.

I think very few friendly fire grenades happen this way. Most is simply people throwing a grenade at a position without realizing it is already occupied by friendlies.

What ever happened to the good old automated "fire in the hole" counterstrike style..

It is automated so you don't lose control of your character, and it lets everyone around you know someone threw a grenade.

These attempts at work arounds are kind of useless when there has already been a system like that in the past.

To create immersion, just throw in proximity for those who do and do not hear it, so people aren't spamming the server with fire in the hole while throwing nades.

And how many ppl use voice chat... precisely:rolleyes:

This is just too goofy, people need to learn to watch what they are doing. If you see a guy with a grenade in his hand near a room that everyone knows enemies are in... what do you think he is going to do with that grenade? Don't go near him.

If you make it a sound only your teammates hear... idk I still don't like that. The other way to do it is so everyone hears it, but then the enemy knows you are throwing a grenade and would cause them all to run away. Just use the voice commands if you want to shout out that you are tossing one.
