well im hosting me a server and getting a few mates who already own the game and a few who dont so we can enjoy the new update ;P hopefully ill convince a few of em to part with their dearly beloved cash and buy the game and have a laugth at the same time. Also i sympathise with those who run permanent servers, and of course if it were me id note down my regular players and password lock the server for the weekend, only sending the pass to those who are regular players. of course this isnt the proper action to take as it means that the few people who will go on to buy this game out of the uncouth masses will miss out and may not do so which would be a shame and counter productive of a free weekend.

I keep trying to separate the colored letters in your posts and see if they formet a secret message, someday they will :D

same here, lol

my first game in the retail version, i joined at a late wave, level zero everything. some guy was begging for money annoyingly, so i walked up to the trader behind the boulder in KF-manor. i went in and bought armor, and everyone threw me a couple pounds, and i bought another 9mm and something else. i thanked them and the guy begging for money said: "wtf u give him $ and not me!" later he got killed by the patriarch and left, well we all got killed by him actually, but ever since then i've been returning the favor by dropping hundreds of pounds on people who need it, or buying them weapons and filling it's ammo if they can't make it on time

i want to find a bumper sticker somewhere, shaped like a ribbon, that says "support n00bs"

Oh someday they will. Though i'll probably have to make a non-sequitur post in the podium to do so. But anyway back to topic.

I will enjoy my time thoroughly as I watch all the demo perk noobs blow themselves up repeatedly and then rage quit.

You know the best thing about this free weekend so far is the music of KF. I pre-loaded the game already and the music that is located in the music folder is kickass.
Good **** who did all these songs?

Ah well, we all started out newbs in KF -- even guys that have been playing since beta/May release. I know I certainly didn't master the game during my first weekend with it.

Best thing we can do is try to be helpful. Even if there's just one diehard on a server of pure newbs, keep offering short tips and tricks. It's amazing how you show a spazzy ADHD kid a few good ideas, and they suddenly resist their knee-jerk urge to post something frustrated and pre-judgmental on a forum somewhere.

But the game should be able to stand on its own. You take the current KF and add the Level Up pack, damn -- that's a nice big chunk of game for a good price. The free weekend should be an effective rebirth for KF. What Tripwire needs to do is RSVP one of those fancy spotlight squares on the Steam store home page.

We're all gonna see demomen suiciding with grenades left and right. I see it becoming frustrating VERY, VERY fast...

I think "Don't give demomen who kill themselves money" is going to become a new personal rule...

I imagine demomen will get an explosion resistance much like the firebug.

I always give all of my money to everyone, give advice and explanations.

But I really get pissed off when they block the trader, I type swears and insults for a few minutes after that.

I know I certainly didn't master the game during my first weekend with it.

The only time I did play KF mod (ages ago) went basically like this: download the mod, install it, read the manual, set up settings etc, go to a server, play for about 10mins, as a legit question that wasn't covered up in the manual that well -> ban.

As long as the guys are legit with their stuff aka questions, mistakes or so they deserve some sort of proper response. If the guys are like scarkes in terms of their basic actions well, admins are free to do whatever they want :p

well all be demo noobs untill we learn the blast radius of the weapons, and if they increase with leveling up

I always read the manual beforehand if possible, I did the same with ROmod, RO:Ost and tons of other games or mods.

Often saved me from stupid questions and sometimes ended up educating some of the 'pros' who were completely unaware of some mechanics because they didn't RTFM :p

What kind of man are you?

Dude, I've known guys in the military that have to handle like, high-powered explosives, and even they sometimes don't read the manual.

"Okay, I figure this button here done blows this sucka up. Let's rock."
