Hi!

i am experiencing problems with RO in online and offline modes. I have tried setting everything to lowest, including resolution, but i have no idea why every 5-10 seconds fps drop down to 13fps and then go back to normal performance.

i have no apps in the back, defraged 2 times, tried with tweak guide, updated drivers and prayed to all gods.

any solutions?

if the FPS is dropping of periodically i would guess it is some background app of some kind chewing cpu power. I had an antivirus that for some reason would jump to 30% cpu usage every 30 seconds or so (safe to say that didnt stay on for long :p)

Look to see if your CPU don't get downclocked from time to time (happens in a lot of notebooks) to save energy or to cool it down.

If the notebook has a bad thermal design it will slow down the cpu if it gets over 60C. Try to monitor the cpu /GPU tems and clocks and see if the fps issues are related with temp.

I had the same kind of problem, but it only affected my online gaming. It was caused by the F-secure firewall daemon. It hogged 100% my cpu power every 10-15 seconds. I even tried reinstalling the software, but it didn't help. The only cure was to get rid of the scanner & firewall.

This is how i found the culprit:

1. I started RO and connected to a server
2. minimazed the game using alt+tab
3. opened the task manager and monitored the process tab so that had the most cpu hungry processes up highest on the list

Hope this helps, it was really annoying to get those fraction of a second freezes during gaming.
