If you guys do delete your ROengine file

In the new one search GameVersion and change it to 1.0.0.7

If you don't do this for some strange reason you want get a full server list in the server browser.

Great tip Gunther, thanks!

Look here is the thing:

I did not tweak ****. When the beta patch from 7 days ago was downloaded, it simply worked out of the box. No ini tweaks, nothing. Performance simply jumped up 66%. And now it went down again even though it USES THE SAME INI AS THE BETA.

And I can verify all of this, because I still have that beta installed. And in that beta I can play pavlovs with average 45 on the busy center of the map (all with the same amount of players)

And for anyone who cant read what I wrote:

All worked before without me tweaking stuff. Now the game code is changed and it doesn ot. Means the only variable that changes is that retail patch whereas my PC configuration and neither my ROengine.ini changed.

What a nice attitude you have. What can you loose by deleting your ini files?

Anyone else having this issue?

Because there is no point and I already tried it, just to be sure. But its useless advice to have me look for problems on my machine because in the last beta patch it ran smooth without any tweaking.

I would suggest TWI looks what is different from the latest beta compared to this version related to CPU.

They are almost exactly the same in terms of code. The things that are different would not change FPS. What is likely going on here is a config issue between the beta and retail as they are using the same config folder. I would suggest starting with fresh .ini's.

One thing to do though if you do wipe them is to change the following line in ROengine.ini

[OnlineSubsystemSteamworks.OnlineSubsystemSteamworks]
GameVersion=1.0.0.7

Make GameVersion equal to what I have listed or you won't see updated servers. It is an issue we'll have fixed shortly, but until then this is the work around.

I think some of the issues people are having is due to edited config files set to "read only".

If anything, delete the config folders and let steam redownload them.

I tried deleting the ini folders in Mygames. However it did not work. And there is a very specific indicator for that:

When starting the game, in the main menu screen, on the beta I get a stable 210 fps. In Retail it is 70-110. Something appears to cut down the FPS right at the start of the game. I strongly assume it is something with the CPU and/or sound related.
And this main screen fps indication happens like this, with or without freshly deleted ini files.

Any points on what may cause it?

Do you mean the inis in the Mygames folder or the ones in the base game folder (in engine and rogame folders)?

The ones in the base game folder should be "originals" - unless you've modified them, which definitely isn't recommended :)

Basically, remove the ini from your MyGames folder - it will then be set to default on next launch, which is essentially a copy of the one in the base game folder. You'll then need to re-configure RO2 ingame.

Tried this again. However something is weird. Even after deleting teh complete ro2 folder in mygames, the game still has my old configuration set.

Ripped out the complete RO2Beta folder from steam. Then I actually got fresh ini files. But it has no effect. Performance is 60% lower than in the beta.
I would like to restate that i think it is something in the CPU and or sound which is different from beta to retail that causes it. Whatever tiny change it is, it drags my performance to hell.

I got a big ping increase (30-40 ping) when the beta servers went up again. (Im not playing beta, i dont even have beta). And i lost a few fps.

Others said the same, so it was not only me.
I think my ping went down now with the last patch, but i cant test too much because my main gfx card is broken.

So if all this is connected somehow, maybe your fps will increase when they close the beta again. Did you or anyone else notice the ping and performance drop when beta went live again?

For me performance has increased slightly. Less stutters and a slight increase in fps.
Still needs a lot of work before people come back to this game.

Performance has increased massively for me. I can now play 64 player matches with absolutely no stuttering.

FPS is still what it was before though.

Personally I think all the performance issues people are having now are audio related.

The new patch ruined it.
Getting crappy performance again.

In the latest BETA patch, game ran smooth, averaged on 30-50 FPS on all maps. And indicator was that when the game was loaded, on the main screen I had around 210 fps. Now with the new retail patch, all of it is gone again. Main screen is at 70-110 fps and ingame performance is completly ruined. Getting 10-15 average. Oh and crashed on pavlov after 30 seconds.

WTF tripwire, why is the beta patch running smooth and the retail completely bombed it?

This is my PC:

AMD Athlon Dual 2.6GHz
4GB RAM
GF GTX465 1GB
Vista 32
(Do not ask about fragmentation of my hard drive, driver updates or how much pron I download, because then I will slap you)
All on medium settings.

Must be something sound or CPU related.
I would like to point out again:
The latest BETA runs flawlessly, just started it to verify. But the latest retail patch runs just as crappy as last weeks.
I am quite angry now. Was looking forward to play this game smooth finally.

Just random advice.

I won't say that your CPU is a joke, it's pretty decent but I am not sure which it is... I am guessing it's the Athlon X2 5000 @ 2.6Ghz. It's a fair processor but it is getting a little old.

Your GPU however is pretty good but your CPU will bottleneck it a little.

You can probably upgrade to a Phenom 955 be (quad @ 3.2Ghz) for abour 120$ and this will more then double your general performance.

Also, I recommend a clean install of Windows 7 X64

Granted the above recommendations might now have anything to do with poor performance after patch... but as a tech I think you would be satisfied with the cost effective boost of performance my recommendation will push ;)

Thanks for the advice, I play to get a new rig in a few months, however this won't help right now.

No, I just tried the game with all audio devices deactivated and there is no difference.

I made some further observations:

In the retail there is, like before that last beta, a lot of LOD models morphing into their high detail ones a few seconds into the game. In the Beta, tehre was no model pop in whatsoever. Also, when I press escape in the single play mode, the fps instantly shoots to a stable 46, not matter how complex the scenery is.
And that proves to me that this massive performance fail has to be something related to CPU.

Better Fps. But that micro stutter makes the game unplayable. I thought they had adressed the cpu problems with the last patch. Using a Quad 6600.
