Ok so Anthracy was helping me try and figure out why my game seems to be running with a lot of hitching, specially the start of the map, shows me in the lobby, when im frozen loading the video for ten to 25 seconds. This has spawned me as a spectator, and spawned my portion of the zeds for my team to further fend off...and it shows me in the lobby like its waiting for me to ready...this happens constantly!

So we tried reducing many settings, then he said try start a map in a windowed version...so i did and voila!...totally works without a hitch, only problem is i want to run fullscreen like i do for my other dozen fps games. :D

TWI, i think there is a hitching problem with the GUI hanging the load of the videos, take a look into it, please! i can reproduce this everytime. My KF totally ran like it pre build 1007, with 70+ fps...something my kf can no longer do in full screen.(all my other games can run without hitch, some more demanding than kf first game that wont run smooth for my comp)

BTW everything is 100% up to date as far as software for my hardware (driver, etc...)

The problem is when KF tries to change the monitor's resolution. This and when dual monitors are enabled. It can be replicated very easily.

Here's to the end of "Help my game is freezing/low fps/memory leak" threads.

i will try running KF in windowed mods, but disabling my second monitor didnt help with the freezing mid-game (for me)

i'll get back to you with the results.

it does (my problem that is) look like a GPU issue, as when i play online, even though my screen is frozen, im still moving about on the server.

if i play solo, everything: ie, the zeds and myself both lock up

sorry if im hijacking.

Can you guys please post your system specs for us? Also, can you guys tell us the amount/percentage of free space and fragmentation on your hard drive, please? Both of these can be found in the Disk Defragmenter tool under Start->Programs->Accessories->System Tools. To get the amount of fragmentation, you must click the "Analyze" button in the Disk Defragmenter, then when it's done analyzing, click "View Report", and give us the percentage next to "File Fragmentation".

Here's an example:

OS: Windows XP 32-bit
CPU: Intel Dual Core 2.4GHz
RAM: 4GB
VIDEO: GeForce 8800 GTX+ 512MB
FREE SPACE: 142GB(30% free)
FRAGMENTATION: 34%

Sounds like you guys think it's related to the pagefile or hard drive IO access, I remember that at a certain point skillshot's hard drive 'clicked' much more than usual during the troubleshooting process.

However, it did stop.

What if people were to install steam and killing floor to a separate hard drive.

For instance, run the os off a separate hard drive(that has pagefiling enabled.)

and run killing floor off of a hard drive with no page filing.

With >= 4gbs of ram i have never experienced the loading issue or hitching in game, just a loss of FPS(that I found a reason for)

Installing Steam(and consequently Killing Floor) onto another hard drive will certainly improve performance in cases where the Page File and/or other programs are using the main drive during game play. For anyone with 2+ GB of RAM, we do not believe this will improve these issues, unless they have processes leaving just 1GB or less of their RAM available for Killing Floor.
