So I guess FH2 and RO might be in competition soon ;)

Hello and welcome back to another update of Forgotten Hope. We are proud to announce that today we are ready to show off some of our latest work that we've been keeping under wraps for some time now. But before that, please welcome Zeta to the team, who will be helping us to create static models.

Firstly, we would like to once more thank everyone for helping us win the 2010 Mod of the Year contest. We fully appreciate everyone's support for our mod. And now, as promised, we have a teaser image, and several renders and in-game screenshots of our latest and greatest projects.

Over the past few months, we have been working to bring more content to FH2 at a faster rate, yet with the same level of quality. As many of you know, our next project is the Battle of the Bulge. At the same, the decision was made to bring FH2 to the Eastern Front. Today, we are proud to reveal the first results of that decision: a teaser image done by FatJoe, and two new Soviet tanks.

Click on the image below to download the wallpaper pack!

Up next are the first of what we hope to be many Soviet vehicles: the KV-1S heavy tank and the SU-152 Assault Gun.

The KV-1S was introduced in late 1942 with 1,370 tanks produced. It was based off the pre-existing KV-1, and featured lighter armor, a smaller turret, along with a 76mm gun. As a result, the KV-1S was faster, with a top speed of 43 km/h. The heavy tank was also the first tank to feature a commander's cupola with all-around vision blocks, which was a first for Soviet heavy tanks. However, with the thinner armor, the tank was called into question since the T-34 could do everything the KV could do. The KV-1S was made by Toddel.

The SU-152, or "beast killer", was a heavy self-propelled gun (SPG) armed with a 152mm howitzer. Since it was intended for providing artillery fire, the SPG was generally issued high-explosive (HE) rounds. The SU-152 became notorious for being able to knock out many of the heavy German tanks, and was even able to completely rip the turret off of a Tiger tank by simply firing HE shells at it. After Kursk, the SU-152 was used in its intended role, which was to destroy German fortifications, on all Soviet fronts, but it would later be replaced by the new ISU-152. The SU-152 was made by Pointblank86 and Toddel.

While we have certainly progressed far in our efforts, all Eastern Front content will be released after the Battle of the Bulge. However, what this does mean is that the Soviet Armies are finally coming to Forgotten Hope 2. On a final note, we have some in-game screenshots of some of the maps to be featured in our upcoming Battle of the Bulge patch.

The quality of work these guys have come out with is astounding but the engine is just bloody horrible :(

Seriously. I love the quality of everything in the mod it's just that the engine is so god-awful I can hardly put up with it.

Getting tripped up on sloped terrain or 3-inch high objects on the ground, the twitchy unreliability of aiming with the sights of weapons, grenades, vehicles, and physics objects behaving like they're on the moon, etc.

It's really too bad.

Agreed they need to switch engines, really fast. Maybe they're holding on until BF3 arrives? Though it probably won't have mod tools.

An engine change is out of the question at this point. If you know anything about FH, you know they are in it for the long haul. Also switching engines to Frostbite is totally out of the question, given all of the evidence that A) no more Battlefield titles are going to get mod tools and B) that Frostbite is first and foremost a console-based engine and simply doesn't allow for the player numbers that FH relies on for its epic battles.

Given all the work they have done and have yet to do (ie, pretty much making EVERY part of WWII ...) it makes little to no sense to switch engines. I still play the game all the time and love it more and more with each patch. The engine does suck but it certainly isn't bad enough to make the game unplayable or not fun. Regardless of its shortcomings, FH2 surpasses its predecessor in quality, though not yet in content.

Simply put, no game achieves that epic sense of a large-scale WWII battle like FH1 or FH2. I'm super pumped for the Eastern Front too, which I had hoped they would tackle before Normandy.

Yes, for a while now. But because they won Mod Db they decided to start showing all the stuff they are doing instead of just the Battle of the Bulge equipment.

Hello and welcome back to another update of Forgotten Hope 2. Today we have two brand new weapons of war for the Axis armies. Enjoy!

Up first we have FH2's second flare gun; the Leuchtpistole 34!
lp34.jpg

The Leuchtpistole 34 was a German flare gun introduced into service in 1928 by the Walther company. It featured a relatively simple design with a 27mm, smooth bore barrel, a break-action breech, and it soon became the standard signal device of the German armed forces. However, German engineers soon realized the potential the Leuchtpistole had for other uses. A rifled, 23mm insert barrel was used to fire a variety of flare and explosive ammunition, and the weapon became known as the Kampfpistole or "combat pistol". This variant was capable of firing, amongst other things, a hand-grenade that was attached to a long wooden stick. While the Stielhandgranate was too heavy, the Eierhandgranate proved much more practical for this purpose. The Leuchtpistole 34 was made by Seth Soldier.

Our next item is a general-purpose truck for a somewhat, forgotten faction in FH2; the Italian Fiat 626 truck!

The Fiat 626 was an Italian general-purpose truck used by primarily Italy and Germany after the armistice of 1943. Even France received 700 of the originally ordered 1,650 until Italy declared war in 1940. The truck had a reputation for being reliable with an excellent power-to-weigh ratio. The 626 was used on all fronts by the Italian army and some were even sent to the USSR, where they faced the harsh climates of the Russian winter. The truck was introduced in 1939, and from then to 1948, around 10,000 trucks were produced. The Fiat 626 was made by Kraetzer.

Hello and welcome back to another update of Forgotten Hope. For today's update, we have some very exciting news about a never-before-seen feature coming to FH2, as well an announcement for the opening of a new campaign at the World at War tournament.

But before we bring you today's update, we'd like to welcome MayhemicMAD to the team. He will be helping us in updating the FH2 website, and as you can see has already done some amazing work.

As many of you may have realized, it has been a while since our last official update. Today we are proud to announce, that thanks to hard work of Spitfire05, a never-before-seen feature will be coming to FH2 in patch 2.4. Today we are proud to announce the addition of a new single-player campaign to FH2!

fhsp_01.jpg

fhsp_02.jpg

As you can see from the two screenshots above, we are only in the alpha stages of developing this concept, but have come quite far already in developing a stable basis for the FH2 role playing game (RPG). Due to certain game limitations however, this new addition will only work on the single-player level, and will not be multiplayer-compatible.

While we are working hard to bring this concept idea to light, we can tell you that the storyline and game as a whole will stay true to the FH2 style of gameplay. This first addition will be titled "Daredevils of the Desert" and will start you out as a private in the British Army under the command of Field-Marshall Montgomery in North Africa. You will be able to fight against the Italian Armies in a whole new way as you go on quests and missions to bring about the defeat of Italy in North Africa. As you progress, you will encounter and experience all that the Second World War has to offer, from historical vehicles and weapons, to the defining moments of WWII. All of this of course was made possible thanks to the research done by Lightning.

As you can see, the storyline will focus only on the North African campaign initially and will be rather short due to time limitations. There will be a slight delay in the release of patch 2.4 so that we can fully flesh out the details, but we think it will be well worth the wait. That's all we can tell you for now, but be sure to stay tuned for further updates on the new FH2 RPG campaign!
