Yes, we were all new once. However, strange as it may seem to you, it is entirely possible to be new but still notice the icons on the left-hand side of the server browser that say "YOU HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO CHANCE OF DOING ANYTHING USEFUL WHATSOEVER, SO BUGGER OFF". Granted, Steam's server browser doesn't show those icons, but then again if it doesn't occur to you to open the game and at least look at the bloody Controls section of the options menu before jumping in (which would then most likely lead to using the in-game server browser, being already there and all), you deserve it anyway.

It isn't inexperience people are complaining about. It's stupidity. It's entirely fair to expect one without the other.

I think the best solution is to educate people on what the difficulties actually mean. Hard and suicidal doesn't mean more of a challenge, it means stay away unless your perk is high enough.

First of all, your list doesn't make any sense because even if all the old KF players would stop playing, that's about 2000 players, there is still 3000 new players who would replace them. How can a game die when there's more people playing it?

Second, you dare calling us idiots, but we are paying for servers. We dont care if new players are coming in. In fact, i'm pretty sure that everyone is super happy because the game isnt dead anymore. Oh and finally, have you played a game on suicidal this week on a public server? Because according to your thread, you didnt.

P.S. Suicidal and hard is not where you learn to play, it's where you die.

First of all, I don't think any "old" players are complaining about the growth of players. The problem is the level 1-2 perks join suicidal and hard servers and ruining the game by dying at the start of the wave. I'm sure everyone is ok if the new players go in the beginner/normal games as they are supposed to.

"you were a noob too" - Well that isn't all true. We all have been new to the game for sure, but not necesary noobs. Noob would be the one not checking server difficulty settings or spamming voice chat, atleast in my point of view.

1. Agree.
2. Experienced player will not complain unless you are ruining their game by doing something stupid.
3. The game will not die even if half of the community dies. This is not World of Warcraft.
4. ???
5. You don't have to worry about profits at all.

Theres a *big* difference between noobs and newbs. Newbs are the ones who join a Suicidal server because they don't realise just how buffed up the specimens are, die and maybe take advice to go play a lower difficulty. Noobs are the ones of any level that join Suicidal without any idea how to play there perk and frequently die after begging for cash. To name a few...

The most pathetic thread i've seen here recently was the guy whining about low levels on a Normal server being really bad, so he goes all griefer on them and TKs em. I mean really.

And as said, you can't teach a new player how to play on Suicidal because they don't have the perk level or ability. All you can teach them is to sod off onto a lower difficulty level till they get reach lvl5.

Yeah, I was new once, long, long ago. We all were. However, most of us had the common sense not to join a server set to the highest difficulty after just buying the game. It has nothing to do with skill - players that are level 0 to 3 (even 4 is iffy) simply cannot hold their own in a Suicidal game unless everyone is saving their *** all the time which, quite frankly, no one feels like doing.

On my boyfriend's server I give low level players one warning to switch their perk to a higher level, and if they can't/won't, they're kicked. It has nothing to do with elitism; I just enjoy finishing a game without others being ignorant and screwing it up.

Well, umm... to be honest, when I was new to the game, I played solo only. I started playing online when all my perks were about lvl4 and I was quite proficient at that time. But yeah, I imagine that other people don't have, what I call "FPP discipline" which I developed playing Quake 3, a decade ago :D

Pardon me, mister, but recently I just started fresh KF account with reset perks and two days ago I finished 7th wave alone with 160 zeds remaining when my party was wiped out, on suicidal difficulty as a lvl3 sharpshooter.

It has a LOT to do with skill, but yeah, I agree that someone who just got lvl4 and didn't play KF before is not usually ready for suicidal servers.

Of course, we were all new at some point. Of course, I actually played an approtiate difficulty, didn't weld people out of rooms, actually read the perk description to know what weapons to use, and aim for the head, unlike all the noobs of today.

When I first bought the game I started on normal difficulty. No point in beginning on hard or suicidal if I don't know how to play properly.

That's not because you "have skills" or such. That's because you already played the game thousands of times, which implies knowing the "spots", zed's pattern, which weapon is the best for which, which zed you have to AVOID AT ALL COSTS IF YOU HAVE ONLY A 9mm INSTEAD OF GOING KAMIKAZE ON IT.
You can be the best gamer in the world, but whenever you play a new game (especially the surviving ones like Killing Floor, Left 4 Dead, Zombie Panic!, Zombie Master), it takes a while before you can really get into it.

I'm not saying newbs aren't welcome. Whenever I see one, I try to help him enjoy the game, but it pisses me off when I'm playing suicidal, get to the 9th wave and then someone on lv 2 joins and starts shooting FPs with 9mm, or hitting them with the knife, making it rage and slaughter half of us, if not the entire team. More annoying when you tell them that the difficulty is too high for their level. The response? "I don't care" "orly?" "*Insert random cool 4chan statement*". Newbies are one thing, trolls are another.

I would hope so. What weapons did you have? What map was it?

Nice try, but if you reset your perks as you say you did then there is no comparison to someone who just bought the game and has no idea how to play. KF has a different learning curve than most FPSs and if you're very new to the game, you have no business on a Suicidal server. It's just that simple.

Also I'm not a mister.

I don't mean 'skill' as pure aim, coordination and response times. Knowing the strategy belongs to the skills in the given game, in my book. So that would be misunderstanding on linguistic level.

In my opinion, we have a quite constant level of technical capabilities like our reflex and aim, that is constant no matter what game you play. But to effectively use it in any specific game, we have to learn its mechanics. Rushing into heavy action without knowledge of the game, thinking that our superior reflexes will make up for it is lack of what I call 'FPP discipline'.

So, I think that we mostly agree.

M14, farm. That's why this was doable :D

first of all you should try a suicidal game before you go on running your mouth about us complaining about noobs. Its a legit concern for us "old players" because the noob's sheer stupidity is ruining our games.

Like the others have said before, if you want to learn, there are normal servers. Suicidal is a place for experienced players.

Sorry. You just lost your skill points.

If it's any consolation, I never spam M14. Headshots only. But I'm not here to boast. Just proving my point that contribution to the team is dependant mainly on things other than your perk lvl.

I prefer playing hard servers with bunch of lvl 2's that comply to my commands and in turn I save their asses, to playing with lousy pack of 5 lvl6 rambo's that die one after another because everyone of them is just so f****** good.
