I always find it insanely funny when people get offended way too easily on the internet.
Transposing your real life sensibilities onto the internet is a definitive no-go.

TF hats: I don't even like TF2 even though I loved the original Quake & HL mods to death
KF skins: don't have KF
RO Unlocks: it's not as if I wouldn't get those very soon since I'm planning on spending way too much time playing RO than what's good for me or my social life

So the bottom line, in my humble opinion, is that lots of people who pre-ordered the game could probably care less about visual gimmicks than playing the new version of the game they love to death as soon as possible.

And while I can find myself in comments on both sides in this discussion, I can't help getting a rash due to my fanboyism-of-all-kinds-allergy - something that's clearly very visible in this thread and seems to have some very vocal members.
I'm surprised some people haven't started typing in all-caps yet in an attempt to win this ongoing discussion/****storm.

But that's just my two cents.

I bought the DDE mostly for the beta, since I haven't played KF or TF2 recently. I secondly bought it to give additional moneys to the developers.

I understand that pushing back the game is better for the devs than to release and patch, since games are harshly judged when being released buggy (rightly so).

I do wish that the loyal fans would get access to the beta sooner rather than later. I could've played this since last december, when it was announced that they wanted to try to go another direction with their development, turning this into a bigger game, that is accepted by more people and not just their core fanbase.

I like the TF2 hats and KF skins, they add a nice touch of your preference of games to other games you play, so you can take a little bit of it with you wherever you play. :D

So in general, the pushing back is unfortunate, but necessary if they want to work consistently with their model. Beta access for core fans has already been granted to a small number and should widen up soon enough. Preorder bonuses are mostly knowing that you support the developers you know and love, while also taking something to other games to show. And last but not least...Can't wait!

As blunt and unliked by many here your comments may be, I follow your train of thought.
I paid for the damned beta! :(

/EDIT: and red is a way cooler color than green

Mate you get your Beta access the same as before, but now you will have access to it 2 more weeks, before it gets launched, 2 more weeks of being Exclusively in the Beta.

What I find amusing is to see idiots having heart attacks demanding a beta, when TWI never announced a date for it. They pushed back the release date, but they didn't say they cancelled the beta for deluxe edition.

I'll take the liberty to say one of the interwebers favorite words:

"Retards"

When they realized that the beta date would make the "beta" feel more like a demo they just pushed the release back.

I am however, no idiot.

I beg to differ.

If you'd have read the Thread you'd know by now that the Beta will start at the same Date as before the Announcement of the Release Date Change of the Full game.

And they don't announce the Beta start date cause an eventual change of that Date would result in more Whine, and they've already run of Cheese to go with it.

No, as a matter of fact, the beta does not start at the same date as before. THERE IS NO DATE PERIOD. If you'd read the thread instead of one post you wouldn't look like a ****ing idiot.

Most the people saying just calm down wait for the beta you will get to play it dont have a heart attack are people that are already in the closed beta and have been playing.Easy for you to say to "wait" isnt it. especially when you have no idea why anyone could be bothered since you are already playing the game.

Keep it civil. You can agree to disagree. You can even disagree with us. But you will stop the insults.

We are still on schedule for our planned DDE beta start. Yes, it may not have been as long as some might have originally liked, but that is more a personal opinion then anything else.

As has been stated, the driving force behind this delay is to give us more time to polish up the game before launch. Something that the current level of pre-orders has taught us is that we have many eyes on the game. And while many of those who have been Tripwire fans for years and have experienced several of our more "bumpy" releases, we have captured the attention of an audience beyond that.

As somebody has pointed out in another thread (or maybe this one, can't remember at this point), we continually improve our games post launch and many would likely receive a much higher review score post launch if reviewed then. But we do not get that chance, nobody does.

We did not make the decision lightly. We knew it would upset many people. We just hope that the majority understand our reasoning and agree with us.

If I may ask, how many pre-orders have you gotten?
Can you share a aproximate number with us (would just love to know HOW much people are anticipating the game as I am).

From the (retracted) FAQ post earlier today:

But the response brought home that the pre-purchase beta phase isn’t going to have 100s of people in it, with a few servers – it is going to have potentially 10s of 1000s of people in it.

So at least 10.000 and that is just for the DDE.
