For those asking "When is the DE beta"?

There's gonna be an uproar...
Everyone believed a french website that said the beta is coming out this week, and an anouncment wouldn't be made until 24 hours prior, which makes NO sence. If you know when your going to release it announce it right away, or don't at all. If they were worried about people staying up late and possibly getting upset if it didn't get released, then why announce it at all, just release it and announce after the fact.

Google Chrome translated the french article a little differently.

I also asked Alan if the semi-private beta will start soon: they are next week, but prefer to announce the date the night before to ensure that players do not spend a sleepless night waiting for anything in the case that a problem where the last minute.

Says nothing about 24 hrs, but instead the evening before.

We're already way below "a lot sooner" today.

Even if beta only starts on the 30th we still get 2 weeks of beta since the launch was delayed... isnt that alot sooner ?

As I implied in my previous post, they said that before the release date was delayed.

You honestly believe they were intending on less than a week of beta (assuming nothing gets announced today)? Stop with the technicalities, this isn't a court of law. It was implied that the only effect of the delay for the people who bought DDE would be a longer beta as the beta starting date hadn't changed. That would make most people conclude that we would have a beta at least a week before the original release date.

The issue isn't that they couldn't deliver X or Y, there are delays and broken promises in the gaming industry all the time. Sure, people won't be happy with delays but game development is what it is. However, this close to release mostly any gamer will expect to be kept up to date on what's going on. I have never followed a game where I was kept in the dark as much this close to release as I have with RO2.

I just would like to know how much information would be enough? If they give you the precise date and time of the release, wouldn't you be upset if they run into an issue that causes it to be delayed for an hour? What if there is an issue with Steam, that TWI has no control over? If you want a rough estimate as to when it will be here, it will be here before the 30th.

I Understand that it can be annoying not knowing when, but it is a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation.

Take your time TWI, give it as long as you need to make my experience better.

You really think so? Because they can take it back at any time, and yet its still there...

The fact is, people are getting hyped up about an OUTSIDE source, and they have repeated the fact, unless TWI announces it, its speculation. Hell, I believe STEAM, and they made a false announcment back in spring about RO2 releasing 2 quarter 2011...

It's not really that hard to say, "We've hit a snag, looks like the beta won't be until next week". It wouldn't be as bad if we literally didn't pay for "beta access", but we did, so it'd be nice to hear some status updates.

Answer: The string is as long as it needs to be.

Yes, I don't care that I've paid, that was my choice and I'm in no rush for the beta.

It would simply be nice to be in the loop as it were, instead of forever guessing and then getting infractions and insulted for doing so

Edit: And I nearly forgot to go and collect my other half from work, that would have been the end of far more than any beta :s
