I have to agree with this, if you're so far away that by the time you scream your target can locate you and forcefully add metal to your torso, you should have just shot him. I gain a lot of satisfaction from sticking my bayonet into some facists but it's just as satisfying putting a bullet in their heart and watching them slowly slump forward and slide down the wall.

Well, he's wanting to be silent about it...but this isn't Commandos.

And besides, there's been plenty of times where someone near me has been shot and killed and I didn't notice it was right next to me because of how tunnel-vision'd I was.

So yeah, instead of risking melee, get your pistol out and take out the multiple people in the room instead of trying to be Solid Snake.

Agreed.

The melee scream is plain awesome.

And he doesn't scream if friendlies aren't nearby,so don't worry about getting detected in enemy lines.e

If you don't want to scream, don't charge them with an attack. Waking in crouch and meeleing doesn't seem to produce nearly as much screaming.

Except then your melee is less lethal.

The charge seems to make it cause more damage. Plus usually when you're meleeing people you want to do it QUICKLY ;).

Developers MUST add a walk button just like in RO
SO you can walk WITHOUT aiming down the sight and they should add option to scream or not to scream reloading/"banzaaaiii" (when using bayonet) or whatever....
It should be just like RO manual commands only few commands should be made automatic and used that way only if the player wants it :)

From my experience, the scream only happens when you actually melee them. Sounds like you were hitting the melee button too soon. This isn't CoD, there's no nub lunge.

lol

No your character screams any time you sprint while holding melee button down. The problem is that the occasional scream is waaay over the top, like my character is still howling like a blood thristy viking 10 seconds after I've already speared a Russian.

Countless times I've caught an enemy off guard and rather than trying to awkwardly shoot them with my rifle at close quarters I've gone for the bayonet.

Problem is as I charge toward my would be victim, for some reason unbeknownst to me, my soldier decides to scream his heart out as if to alert his victim and every other enemy within a 10 mile radius. Needless to say the victim turns around and shoots me 5-10 times in the stomach.

Melee is supposed to be for quiet kills, if I wanted everyone to know I was there I would have ran up on them with a cooked grenade.

PLEASE LEAVE IT IN! It is awesome. If you don't want the scream, just don't hold down your button until you are near striking range. easy as that you can avoid the screaming. This is not a good reason to post and waste devs' time, when you can just press a button later to avoid the issue.

+The bajonet is not so much for stealth kills. It is for last resort charges, for when your out of ammo, for when you are too close to use the rifle.

You are used to use it for sneaking around and stabbing people...which is not really cool or realistic gameplay/teamwork. It is more of a lonewolf killwhore strategy imo. Good riddance then.

I don't know about you guys, but when I get into this kind of game I actually get caught up in it and scared, sometimes if I'm shot suddenly I'll actually scream, if that went through my mic and the enemy could hear they'd laugh their asses off. Whenever a bayo comes at me screaming (i suck in melee) i back up screaming shooting blindly and then get killed. So feel free to scream bayo me, it'll do it's intended purpose.

TBH I've never seen any footage of a bayonet charge being silent, when you charge you scream, it's human instinct, you scream to create a psycological fear in your enemies, and hand to hand combat is one of the most psychological fighting you can get involved with.

Maybe Tripwire should listen community a bit more?

You say that, but judging by this thread the vast majority are very happy with the current melee scream situation. Maybe you should listen to the community a bit more? :p

Maybe it is better to make it configurable? Automatic or By key?
then ALL will be very happy about this feature?

Well then you run the risk of having this happen:

WANT TO BE COMPETITIVE? ENABLE "STEALTH SILENT SOLDIER MODE"

WANT TO HANDICAP YOURSELF? LEAVE IT OFF!

It is tied to a key.

Press melee attack = Silent Solid Snake Stealth Stab
Press sprint + melee attack = Boisterous Barbarian Bruiser Bash

Congrats, wish granted.

Options are always good. Though compared to many things that should be options (fov, hold to iron sight/crouch etc), this would be low on the list. Still, I wouldn't mind seeing it as an option.

Though personally I'd still retain the melee scream ;)
