This is a test video of the Marine Corps' new Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle (EFV) armed with a Mk. 44 Bushmaster II 30mm cannon. The video provides some excelent "in target" footage of penetration by the cannon's projectiles. (150.44s)

It's not meant to do that. It's amphibous, so I comes off the LST or whatever, hauls the the marines at 30-40 knots onto and up the beach, then lets them do their thing while providing fire support.


Everything else is up to the Abram's and the LAV's, but I could see this thing fairing just as good as a stryker (though fairly wider).

Yes, they are an integral part. Amphibious assaults require specific pieces of equipment. Amphibious implies land and water. Its often necessary to cross rivers and streams. Especially if you don't want to ford at an obvious location like a bridge (or if the bridges have been blown).

Where did that come from? That is totally irrelevant. The EFV is supposed to replace the old outdated AAV's that are being used at the moment. The current AAV's that we use are from the 70's and paper thin. It's about time something new comes out.
