From what I understand, foliage effects dissappear over distance in the current Mod version, effecting the efficacy of cover from long range.

I hope this has been addressed in the retail product.


Secondly, I really really hope you CANNOT turn of foliage, as that gives a player an unfair advantage, as foliage is used for cover in this game, not just eye candy.

It has been addressed. we have created foilage that can not be turned off, and the original foilage that can be, just for detail.

But as a follow up question, could you explain the difference between the foliage you can turn off and the foliage you can't?

I assume the foliage you can turn off isn't the cover providing foliage?

Is it up to the mapper, or are the specific meshes one or the other?

The ones you can turn off are basicaly decolayers on terrain that only appear in a certain radius around you. For example grass.

Would be sweet if the foilage in ostfront had physics to it, so when people are hiding in it and then move a little it casues the foilage to move.

What about tall grass, one thing that annonies me in a lot of game your in tall grass and you can't see your enemy but from a distance he can see you.

That sucks.
