After a lot of testing I've finally figured out an easy way to kill Fleshpounds while soloing Suicidal

Tests were conducted as a Level 17 Support, though you could probably pull this off with a level 15 at least, and definitely with a level 20 if you take the +10% damage skill.

You need an AA12 for this.
I also recommend the perk skill that gives you 50 more HP, just in-case you mess up, however when done correctly you should take 0 hits.

  1. As the fleshpound approaches, keep a decent distance from it: far enough so it won't attack, but close enough so you get your shots in (If he starts attacking and rages right away at this point because you were too close, bash him immediately and aim for the head and fire away).
  2. Enter iron sights (or don't, I just use it for reassurance) and shoot his head repeatedly while moving backwards. You should be able to get 3-5 headshots in.
  3. As soon as he rages, exit iron sights, and use your bash key to stumble him. If you do it right, he shouldn't hit you. If he hits you, you're either bashing too late, or moving in too close. The bash is pretty long for what it is.
  4. As he's stumbling, quickly get right up to his stupid face and unload.
  5. When he stops stumbling, back up and keep shooting the head but not in iron sights.
  6. If you f*ck up, keep shooting his head. You need at least 7 headshots to kill him, if you didn't kill him in the last step, you've already landed at least 5 good shots on him. Just keep doing it.
If you do this right you should take 0 hits. If you mess up the max I got was 3.

I might make a video for this soon if you don't get it. Practice it though, I was able to pull it off pretty consistently 2-3 times. Considering the max amount of Fleshpounds you fight is 2, practice makes perfect.

I would like to see a video on this but only if you want to make one. :p

Support is the one class that I cannot seem to play effectively for some reason...

Every time I play support, I'm usually thinking that I'm far more effective in that situation with a rifle. I do ok, but far better as commando. Not the FP situation, I mean whatever else I happen to be fighting a lot.

Seems kind of a waste to kill 3 or 4 enemies with a shell when I can do the same with a much smaller percentage of ammo.

I'll generally just play support only when I feel like using shotguns, not because it is more effective.

I was thinking the same, I was not sure if it was just me or if it was the perk. When I play commando I usually stay alive easier and can deal with bloats, sirens and husks with no issues.

But even with the hunting shotgun's alt fire point blank it seems to decapitate sirens and bloats only half the time, requiring up to 4 shells to do it. Scrakes are pretty easy using the hunting shotgun's recoil to fly away every time they get close.

Again I may just suck with the perk... :(

At level 25 support, soloing is fairly easy. Scrakes, just aim for the head and they will go down quickly especially on normal/hard. On Sui/HOE it is more so only if you are by yourself, with more people you will need team help. For FP's, you gotta hit em with a couple grenades and whip out the AA and unload on their head. It takes practice to get accurate shots off, but when you get it down it is pretty easy. You will get hit at least once doing that strat on HOE though. Again, that is only if you are by yourself, with more people you need help :p. I like your strategy, I would like to see a video(if you have the time). I love playing support and am always open to trying new tactics out on the big zeds.

Also, just to add, if you are quick enough with the double barrel (because you have to get right up to them), you can take out a scrake with one shot from both barrels. Place it on their chin or nose and their head is gone. That is fairly difficult to do though. With FP's stick to the AA :p

You just need to practice, I can take the heads off bloats, sirens, and husks most of the time with just one try. The hardest one is the siren because she is so damn skinny!

Support is my fav class. I mostly use the first shotgun and AA12 only for hard situations. Shotgun needs R key constantly pressed, not to get 0 ammo, or you reload it longer. Played solo today on Suicidal. Perks are configured for maximum damage
To kill FP on Suicidal you first kill trash zeds with a nade around FP, then you get close to him and start in his face, right into his head. And while he's making his animation of angryness you kill him
Another tactic is to shoot him from long range with shotgun, then when he runs close to you you switch to aa12 and aim his head while running backwards. You'll most likely be hit once

Hmm nades/aa12 works... but is an awful waste of ammo I'd rather use on scrake heads.

Why not just alt fire hunting/parry/parry/parry/alt fire hunting repeat etc? That's a blast. :D
