The way you're going we should have something by this weekend! :D

That's the plan! It's actually shaping up faster than I expected. However, I've realized that the camo pattern is only suitable for the German parka uniform, so I'll limit myself to that. :D It wouldn't suit the tunic uniform in the game. Unfortunately, that means no camo for heroes since there isn't a parka uniform for heroes.

Progress is being made on the character model. I need to work on the smaller details and retexturing the hood.

Spoiler!

Wow... That looks great. I think this would look great on some late war maps. You rock dude.

Thanks again! I've been working on this quite a bit today. I stopped working on the character model texture to go back and finish the details on the first person arms texture. I just finished and tested it in the SDK. I should be able to finish the final touches on the character model texture within a couple days.

I thought you guys would appreciate to see this:

There must be a way! Hehe. Nice Job, it looks awesome. Keep it up.

by the way, how much work is it to reskin the German Hero skin, if you are a skilled Modder?

e.g.
- Splintertarn jacket and standard trousers
Spoiler!

- White jacket and standard trousers
- White jacket and trousers
Spoiler!

For me as a noob it is only take a paintbrush and change the color (but I could bet it

Well, after I'm done with my texture, it's as simple as replacing my camp pattern layer with whatever pattern you want. I'll make sure to provide my psd files when I'm done to allow anyone else make a skin in just a few minutes.

EDIT: I'm pretty sure I'm done with the first person texture, so here's a link to that one:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/49sioa8s59n95ie/1stPerson_Arms_Ger_Parka_Custom_D.psd

I replaced my custom texture with pure white, since I plan on keeping that to myself. ;)
Just replace the pure white layers with whatever you want and while having that layer selected, alt-click on the layer directly below it to properly place it where it belongs.

EDIT 2: I've been messing around with the SDK some more and figured out how to get it to play animations with the character's face and hands!

Holy crap, I love how fast your making this too, I'd love to see this soon in game.

Makes me regret cutting your head off when we were in the same server coincidentally during that one Chivalry free weekend :p

I hope this opens it up for a lot of new skins to be released, thanks for working on this man.

I've been hard at work with this pretty much all day. I think it's safe to say that I'm done with the textures! I just finished detailing the character model texture.

Spoiler!

You can see the details better up close:

There's just ONE problem. The helmet. I'm having weird issues with its lighting, and I also don't know how to create LODs for it.

Alright, now that the texture work is all done, I'd like to add that I'm stuck now. I don't know how to properly set up all the materials for the skeletal meshes like the ones made by TWI. All I figured out was how to make a material with the diffuse, normal map, and specular. I looked at their stuff, and they keep referring back to material instances which I have no idea how to create in order to get the lighting right. Can anyone help me?

Are you trying to make a helmet cover texture? If so, I'd just stick to a normal helmet. The Germans never made helmet cover in 44 dot from what I've seen. SS units had covers made in Oakleaf along with splinter pattern cover for the Heer. FJs also had a variant of splinter, although, at that point, we are talking a new mesh with the M38 helmet and a drastically different cut of uniform. You could add some brown shades to represent mud rubbed on the helmet for camouflage though.

I know nothing about Skeletal Meshes and testing new uniforms, but I am fairly experienced with the materials system in UE3 now. PM me on Steam and I'll help you out.

Wow Moskeeto, just wow. Looks really really great.

First you have post just a arm, and I was thinking great, new uniforms, but I could bet that we have to wait some month before we could hope to see this uniform on any map. and now you have upload much more pictures of a full player model.

Looks really great and I hope to see this uniform in game soon. And of course to see much more uniform variatons in the way you have handle it. e.g. White and Splinter-camo for Germans, for the winter-hero-skin.

Many thanks :)

No, I was just trying to make a darker, almost black helmet. I think the problem with the lighting was just because I made it black, haha. Anyway, I'm done! :D I have Nightingale to thank the most for all the help.

Now all that's left is to get it in game which I'm sure will require a lot of code. Should I upload a copy of the package online?

Here's one more image. I'll try and record some footage so you can see it play with the animations.

Thanks for the kind words. :)

I'll see what I can do about more variations. It's just a simple copy and paste with the parka uniform now, but the others will require me to start over from scratch (which takes several hours, but is worth it in the end).

Is this sort of what you had in mind?
Spoiler!

Though I admit I stole that texture from the internet, so I won't be using it. I'll have to make my own from scratch. I only did this to show you how easy it is to copy and paste with the psd file I set up for reskinning.

HIT!!! Looks perfect.

Hmm what will be different when you will do the same work again? I personally have no problem with copy and paste :D

Maybe it was copy from the Deutsche Wehrmacht before ;)

I just would prefer a field grey or grey pullover below the uniform :p

Did you know if it is possible to add a random skin mod into RO2? Like it was in RO:Ost/DH? So there are some uniform variations and randomly a player will "reborn" with one of them. e.g full camo, camo jacket/white or green trousers, or white jacket and camo trousers, or full white uniform, etc.
