It would be a really interesting DLC, there's only one game about the war (7554) and it's a sack of ****. Of course, this is after all the kinks are worked out of the current status of the game and the ANZAC and ARVN DLCs are added, but it would be really cool.

i would say yes but as a mod. there would be a lot of work involved french voices e.g. but alot of the stuff is ww2 tho like weapons and equipment that are in rs1/ro2

and the war is not just Dien Bien Phu as the war ran from 1946 to 1954

Just watched the documentary on Netflix about the Vietnam war by Ken Burns (from 2017 I think). The first episode of the documentary covers this conflict (First Indochina war) in some detail.

To cover this conflict could deepen RS2 further, and make possible for different gameplay than vanilla. Perhaps slightly more symmetric warfare, and a bit more like RS1. No need for a new engine. Expansion pack material, without question. Could be great, and as you already said it is quite uncovered ground gamewise, which would make it extremly interesting.
