I don't think pilots are a very good example in this context. Most women served as second-line troops.
Blankku, it's but one example of many. Someone else has already shared a very valuable link to Lyudmila Pavlichenko, one of aprox 2000 female snipers in the Russian military. There are other examples but with online encyclopedias, powerful search engines, and reams and reams of historical data online, I imagine you're fully capable of finding your own data that doesn't consist of female fighter pilots.
For the record, I used that link because I felt it was a good example of women involved in combat in a way most men would probably have assumed lacked women. The information I pointed to sites women being involved in every aspect from pilots, gunners, all the way to mechanics.
If the Tripwire team put in women, fine. If they don't, fine. I'm just making good use of my account on these boards to correct some false presumptions. Which is more than I can say for some others who have decided to post up lewd and inapropriate comments on the subject.
