I've not been able to play on fallen fighters because it crashes when I spawn and no couldn't find any server for gumrak.

apartments; lesser of 2 evils.

fallen fighters is a campfest. the only way you'll do well if you just sit in one of the buildings. i kept going for the objective and ended up with 0 kills. grabbed the sniper rifle next round and finished first...

crawl 20min to the objective. wait there for another 10min. get shot out of the blue by some f***** in a building whos been sitting there the whole time. repeat.

it's dumb, and it screams horrible map design. I cant wait until the full release so i can never again play the horrendous map again. it wasnt even popular in RO, so i dont know who at TW decided to bring it back.

I actually like apartments alot, but I am getting hugely sick of it since every server keeps mapchanging to it all the time.

If I want a break from it and join a server with FH then the round ends and Apartments comes...
I love the map, but I already know it better than my own room ^^ I think I never knew any RO1 map as well as I know apartments lol

Still its a very compact map and quite fun! I will be playing this after release again. For now I don't wanna see it again. So glad that this update will take it out ^^

Perhaps it will grow on me a bit more in the future, but I'm finding that for Territory mode, I feel the same way about FF as Lucifer. They've taken a bad map from RO1 and made it worse (tanks are no longer useful on the map, hundreds of windows to snipe from, terrible spawns, map feels smaller).

In Count Down, at least the action is a bit more focused, you have to storm the buildings and defenders have very little time to get dug in before defending the square.

-Gumrack is kind of boring IMO. It's an all vehicle map with no vehicle variety, and for it to be fun you probably need a full crew of people you know rather than pubs or AI.

-I want to like Fallen fighters because it's a nice looking map, but going after objectives is a death sentence, and almost no one wants to help cap.

-Apartments is Danzig 2.0 and I liked Danzig, so I went with that.

Yeah I have to agree. I don't like it either and tbh I never ever played FF in RO1... speaks for its quality I guess? ^^ nobody ever voted it... I even thought the map was new to RO2 xD
In countdown mode though I think the map is kinda decent. A bit more tweaking maybe but its fun.
FH really is a huge snipefest kinda and the tanks useless too. No place to hide if you don't crawl all the way to the front you will get sniped. And even when you do you most likely will get sniped xD

(tanks are no longer useful on the map

this is really annoying too.

there is only 1 tank per side, and practically no where to manuever the thing so it usaally stays near the spawn and harasses everyone.

therefore the antitank ends up useless. YOu cant do anything from far away. You cant flank it, because as i said above, you'll either get sniped or the tank will move by the time crawl there. And not only that but the antitank guy runs like a fat man.

On the occasion that you do get near it you end up uselessly pinging rounds off the tank because instead of a panzerfaust or panzershrek, we get a dumb gun that does absolutely nothing.

And what about the engineer? What is on that map worth blowing up? What on earth would warant me running across the field, crawling for 5hours, planting a charge, and then crawling away?

Like really, i mean, what is the point of all this? Did nobody at TWI play this map? It looks nice...thats about it...

pretty whiney thread so far :D

I like Fallen Fighters. Here there i said it...Its only too bad that people tend to stay back way too much and the sls forget that they have smoke and the tanks only deal with tanks and ect ectect..but the map has a certain desperate feel to it..especialy when you have to defend eitehr sides last objective.

Gumrak is totaly meh.

Danzig is Danzig.

I actually hated Danzig with a passion. But Apartments is actually very enjoyable on Firefight mode.

Both Fallen Fighters and Apartments don't shine very well at all in Territory mode and they are potentially the most frustrating out of any of the old maps if your team is oblivious to the objectives.

Fallen Fighters really suffers terribly from becoming a sniperfest with the only ground gained by people who enjoy committing suicide and respawning endlessly. Apartments has the potential for this too now that both sides get even more windows and floors to shoot from at the starting objectives.

I am really, really looking forward to the next batch of NEW maps. They really can't come sooner.

None of them. I never liked run'n gunny Danzig before, not liking Apartments now either. Fallen heroes is an awesome looking map, but too open in the middle and you're just a cannon fodder for the guys camping in the buildings, not fun at all. Gumrak is just WTFLOL.

No it doesn't. Tank sprays the windows with MG and main gun fire. Commander calls in artillery on their campsites. Squadleaders lay down a smoke screen as you advance to the next point of hard cover.

Rinse and repeat.

That is how it works on paper; this is how it works in-game:

Tank drives around aimlessly, shooting buildings. AT crews play "marksman" because the tank isn't a threat and going after it would just be suicide anyway. Commander is nowhere to be found. Squad leaders are in the windows with their squads, shooting across the map at the other team. Three guys throw their lives away for 15 minutes trying to get to central park.

While I do agree that FFs map design isn't the best and favors the window camping a bit too much, but yesterday I was getting first place in scores all night as a squad leader with minimal window camping except if I wanted to take out a certain player in their window or to mark artillery.

It was overall though the most organized run I had so far, cos my friend who I was on VoiP with was the commander. I kept pushing/defending the objectives he told me to and cos people are too lazy to run all the way from spawn, they spawned on me. So basically, as long as the squad leader is in the right place, the squad will end up being there too, pretty much.

I didn't get that much kills cos I was sorta busy hugging walls near the capzones to not die, but I was probably single handedly responsible on keeping the german buildings windows clean of all germans while being a mobile spawnpoint. So, while I didn't get anywhere near close to those building huggers in kills, I probably had three times the overall points than them.

It was a lot of fun.

Not much of a choice for me here sadly.
Appartments.

Not a big tanker, and fallen fighters just crashes on load.
