Why? Because you think the console version's quality standards are too low for your discriminating tastes and you are glad the pc version can satisfy your needs or because you are an ignorant mean-spirited hater?

Based on the FarCry2 forums this game was failure. Especially PC multiplayer, it seems they made the mp for consoles and then ported it to PC and what you get is:
- no server names in the lobby, just map names
- doesn't show your ping
- can't connect to servers if the game is in progress.
- game kicks you out of the server every 2 minutes.
- keybinds don't work
- mouse acceleration is hard coded in the game, way too sensitive
- only few servers(no wonder...)
- 8 vs 8 is max players count. Really fun to play huge outdoor maps, lol.
Also if you have widescreen the game cuts off the up and bottom part of the screen to make it look like a widescreen...
I don't have this game, everything I type here is based on what I read in the forums. But based on this I'm not getting this game, although I was really excited about the map editor.

I hated the stupid acceleration in Far Cry Instincts and Evolution already and those are console games. In Evolution players could disable auto-aim (in Instincts you ahd to cheat it away...) but without auto-aim you literally couldn't hit jack. The acceleration was so screwed that aiming was only possible with the auto-aim help.
Don't brush this off as the statement of the typical pc gamer ala "haha, can't aim with gamepads". I have a lot of xbox games that I love and can control well and apart from R6: Black Arrow (also from ubi
) no other game gives me similar trouble with the controls.Seems like they did the same to Far Cry 2 now.

What huge out-door maps btw? The maps I've seen in the map editor trailers weren't all that big. I think 16 players can get quite a game on on those.
In the trailers I have seen small urban maps that were perfect for 16 players, but then again I have seen large (player made) outdoor maps with large forest areas, open areas, mountains and multiple villages all in the same map. Playing those with 8vs8 will be boring.

tbh if you buy farcry2 for the multiplayer experience what do you expect. It has never been hailed as the next gen in online play. It is like bioshock in the fact that it is a singleplayer game at thats what your spending your money for.
Server browser, ability join a game during a round, ability to change keybinds, seeing your ping, ability to change your ingame nickname... I guess all that is too much to ask.
O really? I guess you missed all the multiplayer interview videos, multiplayer map editor videos, multiplayer gameplay videos and so on. It all looked and sounded really cool, so I can't see how you can blame people for expecting more out of it?

In every video I have seen from Far Cry 2 it looked like a spiritual sequel to Far Cry Instincts/Evolution/Predator rather than a sequel to Far Cry anyway. That's fine with me because multiplayer was way hotter in those games than in the original Far Cry.
People who were after a slightly more realistic version of Far Cry (pc) with realized wet dreams like huge environment filled with hundreds of players are dissapointed now of course because what they got is a deathmatch game for relatively low player-numbers. Technical inadequacies like a lacking serverbrowser aside, this simply isn't the game they hoped it would be.
Bad for them, but that doesn't mean it's a bad game (again, technical stuff aside). I would get it because thanks to the map-editor even above average gameplay is enough to make it rock when you can play on a different map basically everytime you log on. I don't think my pc can run it though so you can count me out until I upgrade.

lol yeah a fail by mister "omg this game sucks because of this and that". That really hurt my feelings.
Now I want it. I never played Far Cry but FC2 looks quite good I just don't know if my 7800 could handle it.
I have it and the game is about 10 times better than part 1. More than that. I got it mainly for the editor and singleplayer fun. I thought the story was cheesy when I read the previews but it's actually half decent and better than Crysis imo. It runs better too (slightly) and I have a puny 7600gt. The MP part is okay but clearly wasn't the main focus. I'm hoping for mods here.
Gotta say FC2 runs way better than Crysis (Warhead). Probably mainly cuz it utilizes Quadcore CPU's.
