He just follows you everywhere and shoots your enemies. He's quite handy and has saved me a few times. Although, I was exploring a Vault and as I left the mechanical door closed behind me, trapping him inside....Never saw him again

He's definitely worth the 1000 caps no matter how you look at it.

I was a bit exxagerating with the numbers but in the foyer there were at least 4 normal supermutants and at least two uber-supermutants with miniguns. The rangers kinda rushed out right in front of the miniguns and so got pwned rather quickly. I didn't give them any ammo as they seemed to have enough and well I didn't really help them much in the fight because I was already kinda annoying fighting so many supermutants but I don't think it would've made much of a difference. I'm playing on normal difficulty btw.

I think I'm gonna complete all the sidequests(8 left) first until I finish the main storyline(about 40-50% through).

I've taken to collecting the unique weapons and I've also started experimenting with making my custom guns from schematics (couldn't have been arsed about it before).

About the android subquest reward:

Out of the subquests, Agatha's Song and the android one can give you the best guns, me thinks. The android's plasma gun is just purr pwn, the damage it has is just plain insane. But it's best to put the gun away till you're fighting the Enclave, because plasma guns are hard (impossible?) to come by before that. And you'll need them to keep repairing them - because it's insanely expensive at any shop.

About the special prize from Agatha's quest:

And Agatha's husband's Magnum, the Blackhawk, is, what, twice the damage of a normal scoped magnum? A really worthy piece in any collection But you wont get that one just for bringing her the Stradivarius, you have to bring her a sheet of music. You can find it at the quests' location, but you have to look in, well, an unusual place.

I love the custom guns. Dart gun? How cool is it to make a gun from a toy car, paint gun, surgical tubing and radscorpion poison?
About the railway gun (or whatever it's called) - I love it's sound... CHOO-CHOO!

See that's where being a thieving bastard like me has it's advantages, I can always afford to get my plasma rifle repaired. Also Lincoln's Repeater is just flat out awesome, very nearly as good as A-31's Plasma Rifle, it is the scourge of super mutants, and you can repair it with regular hunting rifles.

It's funny my flat mate just got the grim reaper perk, it makes the game almost too easy hahaha.

Is it actually possible to repair your weapons by yourself? Because I can't figure out how to do it.

You need to have more than one of what you want to repair. Then highlight the item you want to repair in the pipboy and press R.

You can repair repair some unique items with similar normal ones (eg. ranger armour w/ talon merc armour, BoS power armour with generic power armour)

Moreover, getting the same schematic more than once improves the quality of the item assembled. That makes nuka-nades and stuff like that ultra-sweet.

Nuka nades, Plasma Rifle, never heard of all those weapons lol eventhough I'm about 50% through so far.

Hmm it seems the further I get in the game the buggier it gets as well. The game crashed 3x now within 2hours(2x freeze, 1x BSD). Just patched it, hopefully this is no more.

*edit* I've finished the ant-quest(in that grayditch 'city'). Currently I'm kinda exploring the world because I've heard that there's a BoS HQ and I really wanna find that.

Fallout 1 & 2 were Fallout apples. This game is a Fallout orange. Maybe that's what makes all those True Fallout Fans (TM) so hostile about every little detail. It's obvious that nothing in this world can be perfect, things only strive to get as close as possible to the Aristotelean ideal. For me, this game fulfills all the criteria of being a Fallout and it follows a new approach, an approach which the Bethesda team made work quite well. My only major complaint is that there are no random encounters while travelling fast. All the other little things are details which I can forgive.

Now, if we assume that this game is indeed not even imperfect, but outright wrong, then I guess the more satisfying alternative for the True Fallout Fan (TM) would be not to have any game at all. Yes, certainly an enthralling proposition.

Oh, and the ending...

A lot of people whine about it, but, well, I was slightly taken aback, but it does serve as a nice closure and fits - if you're the good guy - the Jesus theme. Besides, people flame about not being able to go out into the Wasteland after the game's ending, but it would be boring anyway. Sure, you may have had some unfinished quests, or some places you didn't explore at all, but this only serves to emphasise the detailled scope of the game. I remember that in my first play-through in Mass Effect I've basically finished all the subquests and there was perhaps only one or two I never discovered. This made the game feel so mechanical during the second play-through.
Here, there is a promise of adventures yet uncovered which will make the second play-through at least feel different in some places. Also, in Fallout 2 scouring the Wasteland after the endgame was just hunting down some random encounters monsters. And with the Power Armour and stuff, plus your followers, that was only amusing for so long.
That is also why I'm not taking Fawkes for my second playthrough. The guy was simply too powerful and made it a cakewalk.

this has to be one of the lamest endings ever, i thought the way to the jefferson memorial with that mech was awesome with it shouting sutff like 'CRUSH COMMUNISMN' etc. but the ending itself was just really lame).

So just started. Its nice and all, but i need to figure out why im getting artifacts in this game.

I have been playing this game since it was released and I'm still discovering new things and places..

Oh and about the ending: I actually felt somewhat bad for being an evil person throughout the storyline, to the extent that I have loaded up the game before the last mission ( which I would have done anyway, since you can't carry on exploring..) and have set about being *gasp* good. I even work for the regulators now, despite the fact that they tried to kill me earlier in the game after a bounty was set on my head.

I gyrate between good and evil, I started out trying to be good but somehow ended up with the karma of a hitler/stalin hybrid. But after after wasting all the slavers in their big hideout thing and freeing the slaves there I became the equivalent of jesus.

I decided I didn't like the rich stuck up bigots in Ten Penny Tower and rather than eliminating the gouls who want in or brokering peace with them I opted to help the gouls get in through the basement and take the place in an orgy of slaughter. Which I joined in on. I've also been murdering people for that guy in the underworld and then also taking the keys back off him with ym awesome pick pocket skills.
