I believe that falling when shot would be appropriate in some situations.

If artillery landed close by or a large bullet hit your leg while sprinting you would most likely hit the dirt.

"i suggest to do as in ArmA....if you are shotted in the legs by a bullet, you must crawl, and you cannot walk until you are healed by a medic...."

I like this idea...

I hope at the least if you're running and get shot in the foot that you will automatically prone dive on the ground.

I say if a mortar explodes near by and you are not as close, you should hit the ground and then tap E fast to get back to your feet.

I don't know about the german or soviet armies whether a regular infantryman carried ANY medical supplies in person, but in US army they tended to have at least bandages and maybe a little bit of morphine. If it's the same with german and soviet armies, then there's no need to add medics in game as a class (even though I'm not against the idea), you could make it so that if your character gets hit by bullets or gets his legs ripped to pieces by a grenade or mortar shell, that character is unable to get up on his feet anymore and is rendered incapacitated. At this point the player could be given the chance to continue struggling and probably fire off a few shots before they eventually bleed out or black out, or they could jump "out" of the character and respawn, leaving the character as an NPC crying for help, and a team mate could come and bandage the guy up and save a reinforcement point for the team. It's just a suggestion, some might not like it, and it might be mighty hard to implement in RO:HOS but just my two cents, tell me what ya guys think.

And regarding the ORIGINAL topic, I've played RnL for HL2 and in it, if you get shot in legs, or straight to chest you instantly drop down and might be unable to use your weapon for a while due to trauma. A chest shot usually kills you, but if it passes anything vital you just drop down, can't move much, and either "bleed out" or gain your strenght enough to return fire. So Imho getting shot in the legs should make you drop like a fly.

Nice! I'm glad to see that ever more people feel the same about this. :)

I just find it irritating to shoot someone and then to have them shoot me and kill me. Sorry, but last I checked being shot isn't something you brush off lightly, especially shot in the foot.

As well as falling when being shot in the foot, I'd like to see some kind of gameplay effect when you're hit, maybe it throws you back a step or ruins your aim for a few seconds.

But being hit in the chest and the only effect is to go "erhghg" is a bit arcadey in my mind. It shouldn't be:

hit - arghg
hit - arghg
hit - arghg
hit - die

Maybe

hit - arghg lose aim
hit - arghg fall down
hit - arghg prone and coughing
hit - die

The SLX mod for ArmA2 had this sort of thing, and it worked brilliantly.

Quite so. I hate hitting people even more in DH because they just fall to prone and shoot me from that wonderful position. Give them some form of penalty for falling due to injury.

Okay let's go for precise. Falling to the ground and of course it has to influence your aiming, may be you've even lost your weapon. If there's no effect except falling to the ground + damage we go for a second chance like in CoD. So how about "losing" the gun, your character drops the gun and will re-pick it after let's say 5 secs if you're not yet shot.

Just a thing to keep in mind: implementing penelties everytime someone gets shot makes SMGs that much more effective. When being fired at by a PPSH with a 71 round clip, if 1 shot disables you or handicaps you, riflemen are never going to stand any chance except at the most extreme ranges.

Maybe this is good, and maybe its bad, just something to keep in mind when discussing this.

I hope that primarily the ability to bandage gives the additional ability to have stronger and more staying effects of being shot.

So basically when shot in the foot, you will need to bandage yourself before being able to stand and go again. (perhaps not too realistic but nobody would want to stay cripple and its a lot bettter than the current get hit be cripple for 5 seconds and then act as nothing ever happened).
