[Error] failed to find default engine .ini file to retrieve my documents subdirectory to use.

same problem here. i stopped playing and after restarting steam it began to download a big patch. at some point it stopped, then suddenly everything was fine and the game was playable again. i started it and got this error.

steam is on german, game is gifted from norway. put steam on english now and its again DLing something

Im seriously raging over here i can't understand how one can release such a buggy game. I downloaded 8gb First THEN 2,5 gb extra and now 2,5 gb again? i dont get why this is needed.

the folder "\Steam\SteamApps\common\red orchestra 2\ROGame\Config" is empty. I think that's the problem. Installed the german version... Before last update ( ~2.5GB ), it wasn't empty...

I'll check out the english version later, have to go to work now...

I change the language again in German.
(It works with English language.)

Now the voice files to be reloaded.

Can you guys please try deleting your INIs out of your My Documents/My Games/RedOrchestra2/ROGame/Config/

There neither is a "RedOrchestra2" folder in "My Documents/My Games".

I have the same issue on my machine and i am not amused!!!!!
Can you please fix this - it's not funny.
It doesn't help to delete the ini files from the documents folder cozz the problem is the same is it was before.

When i try to play in english language it's the same!!
I can't play this game.
The only thing that works propper is the popping window that says:

Played the beta.
Downloaded the final version got the message "failed to find default engine. ini......."

I set the game to English, downloaded like 2,2 Gigs and... it started!

Played the introduction mission and Spartanovka and it runs pretty smoothly. Game looks better than I expected.

I don't know if the game still starts if I put language back to German...

PS. : I've noticed that the Swastikas on the German uniforms have been replaced with iron crosses, is that an issue of the German version, or have swastikas also been removed from the international localisation?

Guys, seriously, you delay the game, bring a 2gb big patch or whatever right before the release and the German version wont work? What did I pay for?

I got no problem with english, if this game would be only avaiable on english, but I bought the German version and I wanna play it goddamned!

I just hope the rest of this game is working and not another unfinished game like every other game that's released in the last time

Copy the files from
\Steam\SteamApps\common\redorchestra2beta\ROGame\C onfig
to
\Steam\SteamApps\common\red orchestra 2\ROGame\Config
(or get them here: http://www.file-upload.net/download-...onfig.zip.html)

Then start the game once to generate config files in
\Users\[YOUR NAME]\Documents\My Games\RedOrchestra2\ROGame\Config

The game should load, but the menu glitches (red and yellow glitching colors)
To change this, open:
\Users\[YOUR NAME]\Documents\My Games\RedOrchestra2\ROGame\Config\ROEngine.ini
And change Language=INT to your language (DEU, FRA, etc)
Now everything should work.

Thx for you guys giving some advice, have the same problem and with my rather slow internet connection I re-downloading the entire game tonight.

Anyhow, switching now to English/local and see if it works.

i tried to change some language files messed all up. Game is starting, some is german some isnt lol

switching from english to german deletes some configfiles in the main RO2 folder and adding new language files


ROFL everytime you switch language STEAM deletes all english movie files and replaces it with selected game language. thats why you have load so much. files for native speech are just about 70MB rest is campaign movies....faaaaaail steam fail XD

All files in
\Steam\SteamApps\common\redorchestra2beta\ROGame\Config
wont be replaced by new ones after switching from english to german or other languages.....omg

so my try is to backup this files first and copy them back after all files got changed and then changing ROengine language from INT to DEU.
