EXTREME lag!

About a week ago my ping was running just fine it was between the 20-40's. Now ever since this week started, whenever I play multiplayer my ping gos to the 600+. Whenever I got a "headshot" it takes like 10 seconds before thier heads blow off and I keep teleporting all over the place. I would tell you my computer but I don't konw how to do it.
If someone can tell the solution and also how to check your computer stuff that would be great.

At least some information is required, do you have wireless internet? are you on a pc or laptop? what OS do you use?

Also, to check your processor go to My Computer, then open up the drop down list on the right and click 'View system information'. The 'General' tab should tell you your processor speed. I don't know about other OS's but if you use XP thats the process.

When playing, open the console (press "~") and type "stat net" and check your packet loss.

Okay i found out that aperantly didn't have some new update for my steam so I had to repair and now everything is up-to-date. Weird wonder why it didn't automaticly update.
