i figured it would eventually happen, so i decided to go ahead and make this poll.

question is pretty simple: should players have the ability to exit their tanks and how "realistic" would you want it to look?

1.) NO, players should not be able to exit their tank
2.) YES, with an "unbuttoning" system like DH/MN (exits are driver/commander hatches, transferring to "empty" positions requires full animation)
3.) YES, with fullly animated bail-outs from start to finish

we've yet to see tanks in action or experience the currently implimented system, thus it's difficult to say whether or not players will like or dislike it. however, since many have been voicing their opinions throughout various threads, a poll might be nice to get a good idea of how people feel towards the current info that states players will never be able to exit their tank.

*note, didn't list an option for "Yes, players can instantly exit like they can in ROOST" since it's pretty obvious nobody would want that.

EDIT: Poll failed :(

3 - I would prefer full animations for exiting but I understand this is alot of work and would delay the game a bit for little benefit. (note: animations wouldn't have to be perfect, just roughly get them out of the hatch and onto the vehicle where they would have to dismount)

However, I would prefer no exiting when compared to the insta-teleport as it is now in ROOST. Even if you had to unbutton first like in MN/DH I would prefer no exit. It is annoying and unrealistic beyond belief to see tankers teleport out of a tank to shoot unsuspecting infantry, and there certainly is no need for a tanker to exit his vehicle to search for an elusive camper as one poster put in another thread... shame on you! :p

Assuming that players will be able to exit tanks, I'm wondering what happen to AI crew when player left his tank? Will they still provide fire and drive?

I vote for 3.

hm, i guess the average player didnt bother the gameyness of ROOs tank exit system that much and all the problems and exploit that came with it. Locking the crew in the tank is imo the only measure to prevent people from wasting tanks.

Definitely No. 1

This.

Assuming you can still bailout when ur tank is disabled, and you are still alive in it, before it sets to fire.
Hope u can fire at enemy panzer crews exiting and killing them during animations.

at first they can let us leave with no animation, just a 15 second(or whatever time is realistic) bar. they can then add an animation after release as part of a patch

Spawn with the tank, die with the tank.
Your not playing as a person in a tank when you pick crewman in HOS, you're playing as the tank. Don't want to see months wasted animating people getting out of tanks just so that the problems it caused in RO can come back.
Onlt question to be answered is what to do when your tank is disabled?

3!!!!!!!

Although even 2 would be a MASSIVE step up on 1, so if 2 is all there is time to implement. 2.

But obviously when immobilized player should be able to despawn with the tank to prevent being stuck for the whole round.

I'm interested how they deal with APC's though.

Huh?
I mean if you can't leave your tank and you get disabled but not dead, what's the next step? Obviously they're not going to make you sit there waiting for someone to finish you off as funny as that would be.
Will you be able to field repair your tank atleast enough to get it moving back to a repair point? Will you just have to despawn the tank?

Imo, the system needs some refinement on tank only maps where people shouldn't be leaving their tanks. However, I'd like to see exit animations and the ability to exit at any time in combined arms maps - again, imo, the animation should last until the tankman is out of hatch and only stop once has jumped off the tank on the ground - maybe have it in a rushed manner so that he at least has a small chance of surviving when bailing from a tank that's been crippled in battle, if there are no enemy infantry in the immediate vicinity.
The question is, whether the amount of work that will definitely go into the animations be worth the end effect. I think that it *should* be a good addition, as long as the tankers have enough incentive to not leave their tanks at the slightest threat and for it to actually take some time, unlike the unrealistic instantaneous popping out in Ostfront.
Actually, the worst thing that could happen is a return of the Ostfront system. =/
