Just make it a $1 DLC char later, like you shoulda done with Harchier, although free-ish version you did was a nice middle ground, even if I changed the model to the original in the ucl. :p

This exclusive promotional skin cost $10, making it (to my knowledge) the single most expensive character skin ever offered in a Killing Floor game. Anyone willing to spend that kind of money to support a game that isn't out yet deserves the prestige of knowing it's an exclusive skin that no one else will ever have access to.

If they let anyone just casually buy it for $1 later, that would be a major kick in the balls to anyone who supported this magazine promotion.

I don't know why some of you think you SHOULD be rewarded with access to an exclusive, limited time DLC after the offer has expired, on a 90% discount, no less... because you chose to NOT support the game now?

No. Now, for those of you who WANT to get the magazine but CAN'T get it, they should definitely let you buy the DLC itself now, but it should only be while the magazine promotion is running and for the same $10.

I feel exclusive should remain exclusive. This may just be a skin, but its the principal of the mater. It was advertised as limited and exclusive, making people go to effort to get it. To then turn around and change that is dishonest. This is just my opinion feel free to have your own.

I just bought it for $15 delivered from the US to Australia. (

I already read the article because i stole the magazine online, but i do want the skin.

I hope the mag stil has it in there.

I agree with most of the sentiment here, making exclusive skins like this just maligns parts of the community, especially those who may have been playing KF1 and stopped, and still have not heard about KF2. Hopefully you got the article in the PC gamer magazine for $0, because these promotions dont help KF2 fans, only sell more mags for PC gamer. Kind of sucky. I just want the skin so i bought it...mag is going in the trash. very Gay.

I hail from Sweden.
I got lucky.
Friend of mine subscribe to PC Gamer, said he got a KF2 skin code and wondered if I wanted it since he know I play KF1.
I just said "Yes, please".

Again I agree. You have the chance NOW to support KF2. No point in thinking "meh, they'll probably offer it later, cheaper...lol
hum... who i am supporting here, i wonder... it's more PC Gamer than TWI that we will give money... WTF.
weird choice & no luck for me, not sold in France... :(

What about the people who purchased KF1 and a majority of the DLC offered? We supported Tripwire, etc etc etc, and helped fund KF2 ... soooo what about that? Is it wrong to expect a company who wants consumer money to give back a bit to the customers who keep them in business?

Get off your high-horse, dude. I don't care much about a character skin, kind of a take it or leave it kind of thing for me, but I clearly recognize that offering it to a select group of people and thus requiring some people who DO support Tripwire to jump through a bunch of hoops and special order a magazine, etc, was a poorly thought out idea.

TW could have easily made the skin available on their site for a small fee, or just given it away here in the forums as a good-will gesture and made all their supporters happy. They didn't, it sucks for some people ... but that doesn't mean you need to climb on your soapbox and rant to the people unhappy about it.

PC Gamers were the first gaming website / magazine who wrote about Killing Floor 2, and they had a feature about it in "The PC Gamer Show episode 1".

So they are really helping Tripwire to get attention for Killing Floor 2.

I can understand that Tripwire is giving / has to give them something in return.
Although I like to have that Mr Foster Do$h-Skin... :(

BTW I returned to KF after about 2 1/2 years because of the first article from PC Gamers...

IMO, you're sounding over-entitled. If you paid for the KF1 DLC, they gave you back what you paid for: KF1 DLC. KF2 is a completely different game and it's too much to expect they give you something just because you gave them money for KF1 and its content.

However, you are also too quick to assume that TWI won't reward the KF1 players. Who's to say this is the only exclusive skin that will be made available? We haven't heard the last from TWI, you know. There very well may be some sort of exclusive skin for having purchased KF1 and its DLC.

You're acting like you made some massive charitable donation to TWI or something. You bought a product from them and you received that product. How exactly do you deserve free content for their next game?

That's like writing a letter to Nabisco saying "I bought and ate a pack of Oreos a year ago so you owe me four free boxes now".

Demanding that a company gives you things you aren't willing to pay for isn't "supporting them", it's literally the opposite of supporting them. You're asking them to:
  1. Lose potential funding by handing out freebies
  2. Screw over a valuable marketing partner
  3. Cheapen the value of exclusive content REAL supporters were willing to pay good money for
  4. And you're insinuating that content Tripwire produces isn't worth paying for.

If you're a real supporter, put your money where your mouth is and buy the damn magazine and or buy the game itself as soon as Early Access launches.

Edit, after seeing Moskeeto's post:

Moskeeto makes a point, though. It's possible, even likely, that they WILL offer something to KF1 supporters, whether it's a skin or a small discount on the game or DLCs.. That however is up for Tripwire to decide, not for anyone to demand of them.

And whatever it is, it won't be the same exclusive content from THIS promotion, because that would cheapen this promotion.

Never said I felt entitled to anything, just playing Devil's Advocate to someone who seemed a little steamed about people not happy about the (in my personal opinion) poor way TWI decided to go about releasing a custom skin.

I bought KF and pretty much all the DLC at one time or another excluding the Golden Guns. I thought the game was awesome and bought it several times for friends as well. Great game, and I have more than got my moneys worth several times over.... soooo no complaints here.

You and CrashFu (who I am not going to bother responding to) seem to have a problem with customers expecting the Loyalty-Dynamic to work both ways, and don't seem like you can see that releasing a skin that is only available to a select few regions without having to spend a ton of money is just ... bad.

You are not supporting TWI, you are supporting PC Gamer. The skin offered was probably included to entice new people to buy KF2, I get that, it just seems lame for the folks who have supported TWI and want to continue to support them to take a back seat to new customers.

It's a SKIN, dude. Probably took an hour or two to make in DeepPaint, Blacksmith3D, or whatever they use.. but it's a huge deal to people who love this game, right?

I personally don't care about a skin either way, what I care about are people yelling at others who just want a fair chance to buy the stupid skin!

If TWI decides to throw people who bought KF1 a bone, great. If they don't, I don't really care, it's a cheap game with cheap DLC and I'm not going to miss the $30 bucks or whatever to buy KF2 ... but seeing people like (no offense) you and Crash crap on people because TWI released a hard-to-get skin and doesn't seem to care that some of their customers are unable to get it, people who supported them and bought their products ... well, that sucks, and it makes me sad that you guys just come off kind of dickhole-ish.

Take ir or leave it, that's my opinion.

Let's keep this thread insult-free please. I agree to a degree, not every region has access to PC Gamer and for people to pay a lot of money to import it solely for the skin isn't good. I suppose, at the end of the day, it's down to choice.

Case and point, I chose not to buy the last batch of DLC for KF1 as I didn't care for it. It was expensive and doesn't come close to the quality of the previous content. I chose to buy the issue of PC Gamer UK for the skin because it didn't cost the world and my son is a gamer so I gave the mag to him.

You can't please everyone all of the time but I think PC Gamer should offer the skin to a wider audience, even if it's bundled with a digital copy. I wonder if TW could strike up some kind of deal? Thoughts?

The magazine promotion was advertised as an exclusive thing, which is why people were willing to spend that kind of money on it; A digital bundle would be just fine as long as it costs about as much as the magazine did, and as long as it isn't available long after the magazine isn't.

Essentially, this is the same as any of the game-preorder promotional skins and has to be handled the same way. They should have some kind of digital availability, because all of those games were available digitally, but there needs to be the same element of cost and limited-availability involved.

Who do you think is advertising the game?

PC Gamer uses this promotion to sell their magazine to all of the Killing Floor players who would otherwise not buy it, and they repay Tripwire by cranking out awareness and hype. They've already got the magazine article, web previews, and interviews, and if Tripwire proves a valuable promotional partner to them you can bet they'll continue to advertise the game with more articles and interviews in the future.

Killing Floor 1 could easily be classified as a "cult classic"; it's not nearly as well-known as a lot of similar titles like Left 4 Dead or even Dead Island. Therefore, effective advertising for Killing Floor 2 is going to make a WORLD of difference in how many copies Killing Floor 2 will sell, especially during Early Access and at release.

So yes, giving $10 to PC Gamer so they'll continue advertising KF2, and showing the magazine article with its juicy high-res photos to friends and coworkers and getting them hyped to buy KF2, DOES help the game. That's several additional copies of the game that will be bought, at $30, versus giving Tripwire pocket-change for KF1 DLC (although I've recently done that, too: bought a weapon pack while playing the new objective map)
