EVGA 570 GTX vs ATI Radeon 4800; should I upgrade to a EVGA 570 GTX and replace my Radeon HD 4800?
For around $300, would the performance gain be that great?

probably good 40% gain iven if you have the strongest single GPU of the 4800 series which is the 4890...

If you got the money I say go for it + 570 is DX11,or waith for the 600 series and 7000 series, they might come with DX12...you never know.

heck even a 6850 is supposed to be better then a 4870. Just get 2 and xfire em, which is about 120$ each. ( if you want you can also softmod those to be 6870's ).

I went from a 4890 to a 6850 and I got a nice little increase. Can't give exact percentages or anything (it's been a while), but I did get quite a few extra fps. More than I expected actually. I play RO2 with everything on ultra (except for shadows on high), medium FXAA, all the extra options checked (amient occlusion and such) and average over 50fps with my 6850 and Q6600. Both overclocked of course. Going to pick up another 6850 for some crossfire action, since they're only around $150 now.

I went from a 4800 to a 560 ti, it was a massive leap in performance (albeit I also replaced damn near every other part too)

i actually bought a EVGA 570GTX HD for 279€ and it performs pretty well in RO2.
Got a test session on a 64players server on Spartanovka.
Settings ULTRA-HIGH mix : from 50 to 70 fps.
the card isnt noisy and its ventirad performs pretty well against heat.
pretty efficient too under BF3 beta.

i would suggest this card to any friend of mine searching for an upgrade.

more like 120$ on sale. Its nice to see so many Q6600's still out there, i was wondering what the perf gain would be going up to a 6850.

BTW have you looked into the bios flash to make that 6850 at 6870?

UE3 engine is CPU bound. Unless you sport a fairly high-powered quad core CPU you're wasting money on 570.

I have an HD4870X2, which is a single card with two GPU's, and some pretty massive computing power in terms of FLOPS. I run the game on a mix of ultra & high settings with shadows on medium with no issues most of the time.

When I do get to upgrading I might get two GTX560 TI's and put them in SLI, should beat or match a single HD6990 and at a much lower price. This is according to the small amount of research I did whilst pondering abut what parts to upgrade next.
