Plz post your system configurations here, want to see if you guys got something in common. Give the following information

OS (vista64 bit /xp sp2 etc)
SDK installed (yes/no)
MN installed (yes/no)
Processor (brand/type/model)
Videocard (brand/type/model)

Make sure that in your video card post processing is disabled for now like anti aliasing and anisotropic filtering, after the game loads it will enable those in redorchestra.ini by default on first time loading if you have it in your video card settings the game will crash. All graphical settings have been reset to the defaults again, so remember to edit your ini files.

want to see if most guys got some parts in common might help for a bit ^^.
also try posting what you tried to do to fix it.
(removing game + steam from firewall and re adding it, clearing the ro cache folder, verifying game cache, deleting system folder, manually deleting then redownloading complete game, latest videocard driver, latest DX version etc.)

And what kind of informations are displayed when you get the runtime. Preferably some information so we can somehow see if the errors are really the same. If you fix your issue yourself post your solution here too.

The ini files were probably altered by the patch to remove the buddies list, so probably quite some graphical settings have defaulted on again (anti aliasing, blur, anisotropic filtering).

I got mine to work by renaming my RedOrchestra.ini file and then restarted RO.

Of course this just reset everything back to default settings.

I then went in and adjusted CacheSizeMegs to 512 and this caused the Runtime error to come back.

I then set the CacheSizeMegs to 256 and RO started normally without error.

Cachesizemegs should never be above 256mb (actually 3 hundred something) or weird errors often occur but that was the same before the patch. Lets hope the rest got the same issue would make life simple :p

It seems that the patch did modify the .ini because I noticed the CacheSizeMegs had been reset to 32.

I had been running the game fine with it set to 512 before the update.

I had found that as a recommended setting for 2G RAM under the tweak guide found in RO Fourms under General Discussions.

Right now I will set it to what ever works, which seems to be 256.

Yes, it does work. Had to go back in and edit all my settings, cachemegs, screen refresh rate, sync, etc etc... :(

Now of course I will have to go and change it on my son's computer, and then I imagine possibly change any of the .ini's I have for my Beta testing....

~~~Edit Thankfully I saved a copy of my old .ini so I can copy and past my favorites back into the new one....
~~~2nd Edit I had to copy a whole section out of the old .ini into the new one in order to get my passwords back to passwaorded servers, that was no longer in the new .ini. It was the [ROInterface.ROConsole] section...

Yeah yesterday well... a few hours ago I fixed the issue by just throwing the whole lot of ini files in the rubbish bin and vaildating RO. No fine tuneing required until later that is....:D

I am unable to play RO anymore since this update.
What is happening is this:

1) I join a server
2) what happens next is that I can never join a game. I see players running "in place" others running in slow motion, really strange things happening
3) pings are skyhigh, that could be because valve measures ping in another way I guess

Sometimes joining a server locks up my client during maploading.
Even when I am able to join the game locks up while I'm choosing sides. :(
I just joined a server but its like I'm in a different reality => I can see the playerlist and I can run around but NO other players are visible. Sometimes I see one but they seem to be local ghosts because they run straight until they bump into a wall and keep running there.

I joined another server and that's the first one I was able to play on.
Does this mean that the ingame browser also displays not patched servers ?

What to do now ?
Deleting client regitry.blob or a full reinstall or ?
Anybody else experiencing this ?

Remember, with my kind of hardware this never was a problem.

Greetingz, Monk.

edit what I did so far:
1) validating RO content through steam -> didnt work

You probably have a firewall that does allow some things through and others not check if all ro ports are open there are some changed ports now. And remove ro and steam from the firewall and readd them.

This fix worked for me as well. I didn't rename the whole file, I just edited the line. I have been running CacheSizeMegs set at 512 for ages based on something found here on the board for tweaking machines with over 2 gigs or RAM. Might want to track that little "tip" down as it appears no longer helpful.

Thanks to Mr. Luther for figuring this one out.

Very unlikely.
I can play on some servers, but 50% of them I'm "alone" among 30 other players.
My firewall didn't change, the only thing that changed is steam/RO .....
It's not happening on all servers, but on 50% of them on various maps (custom & standard).

yes steam and ro changed and thats why your firewall can now think its a different program even though red orchestra is added to it. Especially if its a wavering issue its either a port issue or firewall issue and not connected to the runtime errors that this thread is about :X

Well I got runtime errors too :D
So it's the tip of the iceberg I presume.
It's not my firewall, I'm 100% sure, it must be something else.

Monk,

I have the same problems. God what do i hate such a changes.
My firewall has been altered but still the same problems.

Some maps you can play others don`t. You can load a map but
when you want to choose a side game is broken.
Or you wait to spawn 20 secs and after the counting nothing happens....really weird.....
Deleting the .ini files also doesn`t help. .....

might be a new thing like the old errors where you lost connection to the server halfway and ended up in a zombie server. :\

Exactly, that's what I'm still experiencing.
Let's call this problem zombie-servers.
I have written down 3 servers where this occurs, would you be so kind to check whether this also occurs for you on these servers Beast ?

okay went just online...

Very strange when i point my mousecursor on a koenigsplatz server,
players went from for example from 7 to 0.
One koenigsplatz server was 6/15 i believe and it stayed.
This was the pzdf-koenigsplatz server.
Logged in choosed a side, could choose a weapon. I thought
this is a good server. Went in and i was playing with zombies.

I deleted the system folder and verified the cache and I'm still getting the runtime error.

System specs:

HP Pavilion a824n Desktop
Pentium 4 3.00GHz
1.5GB RAM
ATI Radeon 9250 256MB PCI video card
Windows XP Home SP2
No firewall or antivirus, but I used to have Norton and it seems to haunt me, I can't get it out of my registry :S

Did you edit your ini file? and try changing the cache size
