Yeah, I remember reading about that Arizona governor from the last video (haven't seen the two first vids).

Funny thing is, 1997 was also the time of the Grand Canyon closing affair, in which Mr. Symington there opposed the federal government rather vehemently and in a media-conscious way he had already shown a propensity for during that press conference with the alien (banging on the doors of the national park).
Oh, he was also accused of extortion, fraud and making of false financial statements.

What really puzzles me is what is a cover-up for what, and what kind of partisan interests are being served by this coming out about the UFO sighting - if any. All in all, this is a really intriguing situation.

I'm sorry but...

its_a_conspiracy.jpg

Watched about 5 minutes of the first video and I seriously doubt I'll watch any further.

Let's use some common sense, ok? An alien race that is capable of interstellar or even intergalactic travel would be far more advanced than us. Do you really think they'd leave it up to chance whether or not they let humanity know of their existence and presence here?

If they'd want us to know about them, we'd know. If they didn't, we wouldn't. You really think they'd trust the US government (or any government for that matter) with this cover-up? Considering how bad governments are at covering **** up, I seriously doubt it.

If you argue that these aliens are just indifferent to what humans think and that governments around the world are simply doing an amazing job at keeping this under wraps, then I'm gonna suggest you're crazy.

Also, why are people so arrogant and think that aliens would even want to visit us? A civilization that has the capability to travel between stars and/or galaxies surely wouldn't have anything to gain by interacting with primitive creatures like ourselves. Humans are notoriously violent, destructive and greedy creatures, I doubt aliens looking at as from afar would want to have anything to do with us.

But by all means, believe if you want. Tho in my eyes you might as well believe in god, Santa and the tooth fairy as well.

PS! I'm not saying I don't believe extra terrestrial life exists in our universe, quite the contrary. But much like I don't believe in god, I don't believe in other things that just don't make sense and can't be irrefutably proven. Namely that these ET's have contacted us.

Let us assume for a moment, even though the theroy of relativity says it's impossible, that faster-than-light travel has been invented by extraterrestrials - still, why would they come to earth, for the sole purpose to buzz a couple of rednecks in a field?

Also why do almost all UFO sightings happen in the US? Do the aliens have a special liking to this particular country? Or could it be that the US just has a larger contingency of conspiracy theorists, "believers" and just simply more fringe-dwelling lunatics?

I think Douglas Adams says it best:

...
"But how did you get there in the first place then?"

"Easy, I got a lift with a teaser."

"A teaser?"

"Yeah."

"Er, what is ..."

"A teaser? Teasers are usually rich kids with nothing to do. They
cruise around looking for planets which haven't made interstellar
contact yet and buzz them."

"Buzz them?" Arthur began to feel that Ford was enjoying making
life difficult for him.

"Yeah", said Ford, "they buzz them. They find some isolated spot
with very few people around, then land right by some poor soul
whom no one's ever going to believe and then strut up and down in
front of him wearing silly antennae on their heads and making
beep beep noises. Rather childish really." Ford leant back on the
mattress with his hands behind his head and looked infuriatingly
pleased with himself.

even if the UFO believers are top government and/or military employees,
x-presidents and world leaders?
I think you will find that most people find politicians even LESS trustworthy than random small town folks.

I love the X-files, but it's only television.

After my girlfriend and I thought we were staring at a huge bright UFO for about 2-5 seconds, then suddenly realized it was the Fuji blimp very low, and at a weird angle, I've come to the conclusion that it's not that hard to misidentify something in the sky.

Last year there was a big rescue operation to find someone off the shore in England because some people mistakened Jupiter (or was it Mars) for a flare.

To get an idea of how easy it is to fool your brain (and for some naughty laughs), check out Richard Wiseman's 10 rudest optical illusions.

True and 99.9% or even 100% of UFO sightings are misrepresentations.

I had a neighbor that bought a Helicopter UFO, w LEDS.
He would fly this thing because reports & articles would appear in the local newspaper.
Mr. Neighbor's UFO copter was eventually confiscated by police.

-but what if the the UFO is sighted on radar and planes are scuttled to intercept?

That's what fascinates me, that there are so many credible and well formed stories around this.

You mean, like the Stephenville Lights? I thought that turned out to be F-16s and a towed "aerostat" target. These aerostats are aerodynamic blimps, able to hover in place, and be towed at high speeds for target practice.

Here's an interesting read on UFO and RADAR at Popular Mechanics.

I'd also hazard to guess a lot of the weird RADAR anomalies that are attributed to UFOs are just glitches in the RADAR system, RADAR echoes due to atmospheric disturbances, or unidentified Terrestrial aircraft. I wonder if old satellites falling out of orbit show up unannounced on RADAR.

It's a real phenomenon, there are incidents of genuine Unidentified Flying Objects. However, they're unidentified. Whether or not they have anything to do with extraterrestrials is unclear. I think the "Belgian UFO Wave" is rather intriguing and perhaps some of the best 'evidence' for truly unexplained events of this nature. I'm not into confirmation bias and making assumptions. One can't totally discount however every single UFO sighting. I think a more logical explanation is that governments around the world (most specifically the US Govt.) have aerial technology that is so game changing and ground breaking that in order preserve shock value should a new major war erupt, they do everything they can to keep it secret.

Read it! Good read- valid points all of them. Was hoping some x-military/gov employee was lurking the forum, to shed some light on the topic.

That sounds more plausible to me. Think about the F-117 Nighthawk, developed in the 1970s (first flight 1981 and prototypes in the 70s) went public in 1988.

I don't think it's a coincidence that "Area 51" was where Lockheed was running a lot of their secret "Skunk Works" projects. Who knows what's classified now.

Even simpler is a squadron of planes flying in Wedge formation at night can easily look like a gigantic triangular craft with each plane being part of the "running lights."

You know the Roswell "UFO Crash" turned out to be "Project Mogul" - a top secret system to detect Soviet nuclear tests using microphones mounted on high altitude balloons. Hence the cover-up.
