I just thought I would share these videos with you all. Me and Hypnotoad have been terrorizing the DH Jollyroger's server every week or so with our evil team-tanking antics. I just figured you guys would get a kick out of these videos!

This one is just of us in a Hellcat:

‪Darkest Hour - Hellcat Derby‬‏ - YouTube

And this one is of us using (in order) a Cromwell, Stuart, Hellcat, and Panther at the end. We both filmed so that you can see the fighting from both driver and gunner's POV:

‪Darkest Hour - American Tank Supermen‬‏ - YouTube

‪Darkest Hour - Speedy Gonzales vs Goliath‬‏ - YouTube

UPDATE (7/28/11):

Here's a brand new video for you guys. Lots of explosions and more epic moments in this baby :D

‪Darkest Hour - Michael Bay Cameo‬‏ - YouTube

Again, all credit for the editing goes to Hypnotoad!

Close enough, one of the tactics of that tank was to shoot and scoot and appear elsewhere, confusing the enemy as to how many tanks you have, and where they actually are attacking from.

Wiki has some good info about that tank, worth the read..

Yep and that is basically what we use it for when we team tank. The heavy, slow German tanks don't gain as much of a benefit from team tanking as the fast, nimble tanks such as the Hellcat, Stuart, or Puma do. We got many of our kills by shooting on the move or speeding across a battlefield to sneakup on enemies from behind.

At first I was like 'Whats the fun in seeing somebody tank'. But it actually proved to be a very entertaining (and educating) video.

Wants more also (also mentioned it to my friends, who only know BF-type tanking).

Well 'shoot and scoot' is not the same as 'drive like a madman behind enemy lines and crash into the tigers from behind' :p

But fair enough, if it works in the game. There's a difference between playing realistically and playing the game as it is.

True, but remember that we only include the extremely entertaining moments from our nights of tanking. Much of the mundane strategizing is not included, as it doesn't make for a very action-packed video. We only include the highlights, which includes those rare moments when we end up basically ramming enemy tanks that are too slow to turn to shoot us, such as tank destroyers.

When it comes down to it, nobody plays realistically in the tank games in DH. Solo tanking is not realistic, nor is it very realistic to putter around a 1 K area with only one tank, yet everybody does this.

The way we play is hardly realistic, but it's not going far to say it would have been an effective strategy in WW2 because nobody would expect it, nor would there be much of a counter to it. I just dont think that anybody would have the nerves of steel to do something like that in real life since these would be such high risk maneuver :p

"Gee captain, there's a Stuart behind us and he's driving towards us at 60 km/ph shooting his gun at our engine, what do we do?"

And, as hockey said it's basically a highlight reel. We generally record at least two hours of footage, and then snip it down to the most entertaining parts, so there is a fair bit of "normal" tanking.

Nice videos, I've watched them both. I loved the part where you surrounded the KT and then ran over the 2 crewmen, that was pretty funny. I got a little discouraged to play tanking lately beacuse I hate when a tank reappears somewhere else when you try to aim it. I guess it's beacuse of the lag...

true. I think boiling it down to the core, the concept is to exploit the speed of the tank as much as possible. A lot more is possible when you respawn and feel no pain. :)

edit:

trying to join jolly rogers now, just hangs on the load...?
