Yes. Please everyone, get off steam so i can finish downloading the demo. Once I've got it, I will tell if it's worth the effort.

I just went ahead and switched which content server I was using. Changed it up from the one closet to me (Central US) to an East Coast one and my speeds picked back up.
Which for myself would be Benelux !
Depends on your situation or where you (more often than not) download from.

I just finished the Battle of Brandywine Creek (i like that name btw
), but i lost a lot of infantry because i'm still learning how to best deploy them But finished it on the first try.
I got totally schooled during the naval battle though, in the end i had 1 ship left against their 3 or 4

Well I found the controls to be awkward, especially camera control. Seems like Total War games will never get this right. Graphics for me were worse in the land battles than MTW 2 with worse performance, too. The sea battle was nice but somehow, I expected more depth.
I'm a bit disappointed, I guess I'll pass on this one until it is budget. By that time I'll probably have a better rig also.

there must be something wrong, cause the demo load times are insane!!!!!
I mean 1.5 mins to get into the main screen and then the same weight after changing your video options! And the HD light isn't even flickering half the time....
and the same wait after finishing the tutorial
maybe they assed the code somewhere....
frustrating, I quit it after the the tutorial, because life is too short!

Defragment the files after you download them
Ship battles are easy, I can win now with 0 casualties
Once you get it it's pretty simple, I didn't find much use for any of the abilities though, except holding fire and using grape if in range. I like how when the battlefield is littered with dead ships they make interesting obstacles to fight around.

judging by the totalware forums, I'm not the only one! There are some issues for sure
Got a heroic victory on the land tutorial, 21 friendly casualties versus 237 enemy... then the game crashed.
I too have massive loadtimes though Steam reports 0% fragmentation.

Load-times are slightly longer then i'm used to, but not dramaticly long.
I think they are still under 1 minute, though ofcourse they should optimise it more.
