That is because the user posted the youtube embeding code instead of just a youtube address. The embed code has the address twice.

Code:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4w6RaX7heGc

ok this is a youtube address and not the embedded code correct? it's the url in the address bar that's the location of the video, just like the example you provided in the first post. if i put that in without the code tags (which stop it from auto "embedding") it will double post.

edit: when i wrapped the url in
Code:
 tags, it embedded the video within the extra box. had to edit to produce the example from the thread's first post

you are partly right. if i copy what i put in the "code box" (just the text without a hyperlink), and don't click anything, no spaces, no extra text, nothing else, then it will stay "un-hyperlinked" until the post is made and it will post just once like so:

YouTube - Red Orchestra - Trailer

thing is, a straight copy paste of the video's location will automatically come up in the "post edit box" (when you're typing in your message) as hyperlinked. i think that's what is causing the double posting. it looks like from what you said, all you should have to do is copy what's in the address bar of the video and that should produce one video. if you copy the location from youtube (either in the address bar, or the "share" section), the "text" will automatically get hyperlinked no matter how hard you try to remove it. which means it ends up like this:

[URL="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4w6RaX7heGc"]YouTube - Red Orchestra - Trailer[/URL]

the point is that it's a bug that a simple copy/paste of the address will end up double posting the video for many people......it's happened enough to warrant an "explaination on how to post youtube videos", which is how people already do it to begin with, but because of the bug it fails regardless.

in every other forum i've used that's using later versions of vbulletin, all i have to do is copy the url in the address bar from the video, paste it into the message, and presto......one video. no edits, no deletes, no removing hyperlinks, just copy/paste and BAM. should always be that easy. apparently it is for some users and not for others.
