Will EAX + Voip work in the RO:OST. Is something changed in the engine that this annoying bug is fixed?

You cannot use ingame speech if you use EAX

(tried also with the last version of OpenAL but still not working :( (Creative XFI))

What do you mean, you can't? It won't work or will it sound strange? Explain, cause I've talked to people with EAX it on, but they don't hear me that well. Sometimes I have to guess what people says... A bit annoying yes. :D

generally orientation due to sound around u is not good at this moment in UT and i think RO suffer same way... i really hope this will work in RO:Ost...
and ingame-voice ... i hate it... who want to listen to public guys using this? me not - when i want to hear my mates i use teamspeak or whatever u want to use... but this is just my personal opinion and as long as it will be very easy to disable it i have no problem with it at all

=> thats my opinion, too. most players who think to have to speak about stupid things like how their WE was.... there's nothing annoying me more.... but they are muted anyway ;)

BTW: TS does its job guys ;)

You can't hear people when you have EAX on. It's a known bug with UT2* engine. Hope it gets fixed in RO:OST

Ahh so THAT'S why I can't hear all the frases they say haha...
I I really DONT wanna turn off the EAX FX... That would ruin the whole athmosphere. I rather use the ingame voice commands then instead.

Funny I never have had these problems in UT2004 before. I run EAX in all my games and I never get sound issues with the VOIP in UT2004s engine. Then agian I don't use USB headsets/mics that do their own sound mixing. I just plug mine right into the sound card and I get great sound, and people always tell me how clear, and easy to hear I am online.

I also use Plantronic headsets they are cheap and work great at only 20.00$ a pice. They fit nice and don't crush my head like alot of other headsets do.

I would recomened trying to do it my way as you get much better sound and you get it all right from the card so there is no chance your not going to hear some sounds, I also do this with my speakers and they work great too.

The voip issue seems to be with audigy cards Gun. I too do everything you just said, and I could never get it to work correctly for 3.3

I have an audigy 2 card and have always been able to use HW + EAX VOIP. This seems to be a very random issue as when a related criteria arises, someone else with the same criteria will not have the issue at all. Very odd

I hope and pray that the dev's have taken the time to give the sound system a major overhaul so that positional sounds actually work correctly without a huge jump in sound levels and so that foot steps and breathing can acctually be located.

Similarly I hope that the build in VOIP has been much improved so that it can finally help improve gameplay. I know there is alot of prejudice against ingame voice in the RO community but I honestly think that working VOIP comm would really enhance teamplay. ATM RO is WAY to quiet. Hell, CSS players communitcate better ingame than RO players and ALL css players with a mic can communicate without having to use TS. Seems wierd to me that a very untactical game has better communication than a highly tactical game...
